Solid Tool—Just Know It Doesn’t Come With a Battery”
I’ve been using this DEWALT 20V drywall screwgun for a few months now, and it’s definitely made hanging drywall quicker and way less frustrating. The brushless motor runs smooth, and the depth adjustment is spot on once you dial it in. It’s super lightweight too, which matters when you’re doing overhead work for hours. That said, I wish I’d realized it was the bare tool only—no battery or charger included, so keep that in mind if you’re not already in the DEWALT 20V ecosystem. Once I paired it with my 5Ah battery, it ran for most of the day on a single charge.Overall, it’s a solid tool—reliable, powerful, and saves time if you’re doing serious drywall work. Just be ready to invest in the battery separately if you don’t already have one

**Review: DEWALT 20V MAX* XR Drywall Screw Gun**As a professional carpenter with a variety of jobs, I recently invested in the DEWALT 20V MAX* XR Drywall Screw Gun, and it has become an indispensable tool in my collection.**Pros:**1. **Cordless Convenience:** The 20V MAX* XR battery provides plenty of power without the hassle of cords. It allows for greater mobility and ease of use, especially when working in tight or remote areas.2. **Efficient Performance:** This screw gun is specifically designed for drywall, and it shows. It delivers consistent, high-speed performance, making drywall installation much faster and easier.3. **Ergonomic Design:** The tool is lightweight and well-balanced, which reduces hand fatigue during extended use. The grip is comfortable, and the overall design makes it easy to handle.4. **Adjustable Nosecone:** The adjustable nosecone feature is great for setting screws to the perfect depth, ensuring a professional finish every time. It’s also easy to remove for cleaning or when changing bits.5. **LED Light:** The built-in LED light is a nice touch, illuminating the work area and making it easier to see in low-light conditions. This is particularly useful when working in poorly lit rooms or at night.6. **Battery Life:** The XR battery provides long-lasting power, allowing me to complete large sections of drywall without needing to recharge frequently. This saves time and keeps the workflow smooth.**Cons:**1. **Price:** As with many DEWALT products, the price is on the higher side. However, considering the performance and durability, it is a worthwhile investment for professionals.2. **Bit Holder:** The bit holder could be improved. It’s functional but could be more secure to prevent bits from falling out during transport or use.Overall, the DEWALT 20V MAX* XR Drywall Screw Gun is an excellent tool for any professional carpenter. Its cordless convenience, efficient performance, and thoughtful design features make it a valuable addition to my toolkit. Highly recommended for anyone looking to improve their drywall installation process!

Quick and efficient!
Why did you pick this product vs others?:I do a lot of DIY drywall and wish I had bought this years ago. The gun holds the screws really well with magnet tip so you can drive 1 handed. This always sets the screw to perfect depth over and over. There is a slight learning curve but after one 4x8' sheet you will have the hang of it. I sure it was in the instructions but who reads those. TL;DR pull the trigger before you push the screw and spin up the driver before push. There is a clutch in the gun that helps drive the screw in as its not an impact tool. The impact sounds you may hear are the clutch slipping.

Screw Gun Losing power, even after replacing the battery
The media could not be loaded. Bought the Gun 4 months ago. I used it on a day to day basis as I am a drywaller. Have never dropped it. But I seem to be having trouble with the Screw gun working. As you can see in the video the gun sometimes works and then loses power I've tried replacing the battery but seems to have the same issue. I loved it while it worked. But If I need to buy a gun of this model every 4 months its not worth buying it!

Its good
Works well but wont drive the screws deep enough if at an angle, like in corners. It will work well if its straight, and does drive the screws fast. A little pricey for someone who does ocasional drywall i would say in my opinion. Works well with any dewalt battery.

Worth the upgrade. Vale la pena.
The screw gun is a lot more ergonomic than the previous model. It’s lighter than the previous dcf620 model. The stem/ handle is shorter so bigger batteries don’t feel as heavy compared to using them with the dcf620. The angle also makes it so that with the weight of the battery, the gun naturally positions itself to go straight when screwing off walls. With the previous model you kinda had to fight the weight of the battery. The top belt clip can get in the way when screwing off corners, but it’s removable. It has 450 more rpms than the previous model and you can feel the difference if you do a lot of drywall work. Clutch feels smoother as well. If you do a lot of drywall work this is definitely a good upgrade. Side note, some guys use their drywall guns to do light steel stud framing (I don’t), but this version is nice because you can switch to speed 1 so the screws don’t spin as fast which means you won’t be stripping screws or get any kickback.
