Hodgman H3 Wading Boot (Felt)

I wear a 10.5 so picked up the 11’s. They fit perfect with my neoprene socks. Nice quality for the money. Felt held up very well. Stuck to the slippery rocks as good as or better than my older boots that had fallen apart after 20 years of hard fishing (and many repairs). I was a little concerned given some of the images wih the soles/felt torn off. Didn't experience anything like that at all. (But I prepared myself...by picking up some goop and duct tape in case I had to fix them. Didn't need it....) They were comfortable to walk in the river and along the bank. I would not hesitate to buy them again. Got them for an Amazon Warehouse price under 60.00 (thanks to whoever returned them). For the price I think they would be hard to beat!

Well constructed boot which fits comfortably (one size larger than street shoe size). I've worn these boots 3 to 4 days a week since early June 2018 (4 months) fishing and casting practice and they show zero wear - speaks well to their durability. Highly recommend for a comfortable low cost and durable wading boot. Just wish they had heaters.

Have made about 6 trips in the river, appx 3 hrs each time, and been very comfortable. The felt sole has been great in keeping me from sliding on submerged rocks which was a problem with my rubber waders in cooler months. I use neoprene water socks inside & gravel guards over the boots & can't be happier.

We've always had good luck with Hodgman boots. I actually wanted a pair of lightweight ones made of canvas but it looks like they don't make them anymore. So I got these as a substitute and they are nice boots. Ordering a half size larger than regular shoe size was just right to accomodate neoprene stocking foot waders.

I just got back from Bolivia where I used my new felt boots (no studs) for my fly expedition on the Aqua Negra. I was so impressed with the boots performance, I had to write...they still look brand new! There were guys who had boots 6 times what I paid and they were falling apart. Lots of wading, scrambling boulders and river walking. I got a lot of attention from the other fishermen because of how mine held up. I would estimate that the total amount of walking done over the course of the week was 35km/22miles. Pictures are after the trip....washed well and slow dried in non direct heat.

As a lady fisher Unless you want to spend big on boots you have to order size down using man's sizing charts. Then when you get past that you hope they are not going to be too big or sloppy once wet. Well these Hodgman boots after wearing a couple times don't fit perfect but theey make up for it in sole and material they are made up of. I can see that they can dry and lace up fast, are not ugly after being wet/muddy, and lite yet supportive (if kept tyed tite) I normally wear size 8 to 81/2 so sized down to a 7 in man's s.

I am a river gold miner (placer miner). I dredge underwater using what is effectively and underwater vacuum cleaner to suck up sand and gravel into a sluice. Half the job is dredging, the other half is winching rocks out of the river. I send a lot of time walking up and down the river on slippery rocks. For a long time I used a Hodgman neoprene boot, but last summer I tried the H3 boot and will never go back. The neoprene boots do not offer enough foot protection. Until last summer I would be subjected to four months of sore feet every year. The felt soled H3 gives better protection and better traction. The bummer is that the sole starts coming apart from the uppers after only about a week in the river. Last year I bought some wading boots at Cabella's to replace my H3s. They are OK but the Hodgman's are better. Two of my mining buddies complained to Hodgman and were sent new boots which they had modified at a shoe repair store using a different glue to hold the soles to the uppers and they had them stitched together as well. I bought a new pair of Hodgman's this year hoping the glue problem had been solved. We'll see.

I love these boots. I've been out a few times in these and I can confidently say that these were an amazing purchase. I have a super grip on all the slippery rocks my other boots couldn't handle, I've purposely tested them by trying to slip haha I would gladly buy them again, and probably will. I wear a size 11 shoe and ordered a size 12 boot for the wading feet to fit right.

Very happy. Wore them winter steelhead fishing and was happy with the traction on rocks. I have plantar fasciitis and my feet were comfy which means you get to fish longer. Good price. Quality seems very good. I wear a a size 9.5-10. Bought the 11. my caddis breathables have neoprene socks that fit really big. I could still fit 2pairs of socks. (1 thick) and was comfortable.

Ich habe überlegt ob ich hier wirklich eine Rezension abgeben soll, da viele vielleicht meinen "eh logisch was der schreibt ist nix Neues"...Um es trotzdem möglichst kurz zu fassen und dem einen oder anderen Käufer eine kleine Hilfestellung zu geben: Bin ein "Viel-Fischer" (hauptsächlich Fliege) und auch beruflich am/im Wasser unterwegs. Dementsprechend sind auch mehrere Paar Watschuhe in Verwendung (auch hochpreisige Modelle "namhafter" Hersteller, wo allerdings von einem italienischen Hersteller abgesehen - hier liegt die Verwendung bis dato bei ca. 3 Jahren, alle anderen irgendwo "Schwächen" zeigten). Der Hodgman H3 hat sich hier - trotz seines "moderaten" Preises - wacker geschlagen und bei mittlerweilen ca. 50 Einsatztagen am Gewässer ist alles noch intakt (Nähte, Schnürsenkel, Sohle, Ösen etc.). Die Filzsohlen erstaunen, da bei einem teureren Modell nach ähnlicher Tragedauer deutlich weniger Filz am Schuh übrig war. Einzig beim Waten in gebirgigen (Wild-) Bächen, zeigen sich m.M. nach leichte Schwächen in der Stabilität beim Gehen (Seitenhalt). Wer also einen guten "Zweit/Reserveschuh" sucht, oder den Schuh nicht mit sehr hoher Frequenz nutzt, und nicht in alpinen Gewässern spazieren geht, liegt bei diesem Produkt wirklich gut.

Great light weight boot Seem to be made well I bought a size 13 lots of room My waders are xl so needed to go up a size bigger then my shoe size Size 12 may work but if you want an extra sock in the waders then one size up will be better
