valuable resource for teaching children how to read and build foundational literacy skills
The Learning Resources Reading Rods Alphabet and CVC Words set is an exceptional educational tool designed to support children in their journey to learn how to read. With its innovative approach to teaching phonics, word building, and spelling, this set provides a hands-on and engaging learning experience for kids. One of the standout features of this set is the inclusion of color-coded letter blocks. Each block represents a specific letter of the alphabet, and the color-coding system helps children easily identify and differentiate between letters. This feature aids in reinforcing letter recognition and phonemic awareness, which are crucial foundations for reading and spelling. The Reading Rods Alphabet and CVC Words set aligns with the science of reading, which emphasizes the importance of phonics instruction and phonemic awareness in developing strong reading skills. By incorporating manipulatives and hands-on activities, this set engages multiple senses and learning styles, making it suitable for children with diverse learning needs.

Fun to learn to read and spell.
An educational toy to help children read and spell out words. This is done via these colourful blocks which helps children identify and learn as they read and spell different words. It kind of madame think of scrabble, despite the game not being like it, the blocks and spelling and so on reminded me of it. It is like a child friendly scrabble-like learning tool.

Hard to pull apart but that should ease in time
I think this is a great product, however, they are really difficult to take apart, I think they will be okay after some use though, great early literacy, fine motor building tool, along with learning how to spell different words that may not be suitable for your child in the usual school teaching, these rods bring creativity, learning to spell & vocabulary i to practice while playing & building. Great tool for at home

A great tool for early reading ...
These are a set of interconnecting blocks with individual letters printed on them which you can use to build words. There are two of each letter, showing both the upper and lower case on different on different faces of the blocks. The dividers it mentions are just a folded cardboard insert in the box with a single divider to separate vowels from consonants. The set is aimed at children at the start of their reading journey to help them with letter recognition and building simple, 3 letter words with a basic consonant-vowel-consonant structure. To assist with this, vowels are coloured red. There are also a couple of "blank" blocks in each colour for children starting to gain confidence with these sorts of words so that you can get them to figure out which letter might replace the blank to create a real word. There is also a little leaflet with suggested games and activities that you might play and QR code links to worksheets that you can download and print. As your child's reading skills improve, there are various other sets which you can buy which build on the same principle of interconnecting blocks with more groupings of letters and complete words. The downside is that following this system could get expensive with extra sets to buy.

Nice product for phonics teaching
As a Reception class teacher I seen a lot of my time teaching children how to read using phonics. This is a clever set of cubes to make cvc words (consonant-vowel-consonant such a p-i-g). The leaflet gives ou ideas on how to use the cubes which are colour coded: blue for consonants and red for vowels. I am going to use this kit with the children in my class who are find it tricky to begin to read simple words. These manipulatives will make it a bit more fun than me holding up words.

Supports active learning
Pros ✅ Great learning tool to support children who enjoy fiddling and creating with touching over paper and pencil. Reasonably priced. Robust. Great for home learning or classroom use. Different colours for vowels and consonants. Cons ❌ Nil of note. 5 stars from me. I hope you find my review helpful 😊

Mathslink blocks for sounds
These plastic blocks link together horizontally allowing you to make CVC words. They are great for little intervention groups of children who need to use manipulatives...This is part of a bigger set that would allow you to do more words. They also have some labelled as sound buttons - which again help some children.

Good Tool
My grandson likes to build with these. But he will find out other reasons for them as we will out on his spelling words with them. They are a good and useful tool for hands on learning.

Pediatric SLP
These reading rods work really well during therapy sessions, especially when targeting CVC words and blends. They make it easy to visually separate and manipulate sounds, which helps students better understand phonemic awareness and decoding skills. The rods are sturdy, easy for little hands to use, and keep students engaged during activities. I’ve found them to be a helpful, hands-on tool for reinforcing early reading skills, and they’ve been a great addition to my therapy materials

great tool for teaching reading
I like this product because the students can blend sounds in a tangible way. The letters are also correct. I used to teach reading to children with learning disabilities.

Great learning tool!
Got these for my daughter when we read together and she can’t remember a word we use these to spell it. It helps give her a motor activity to not just say the word but be hands on spelling it! Great quality, study, fun! My daughter loves playing with these!
