Why there is a visible and look ugly circle on the fingerprint area?

Thank you for your inquiry. Regret the 3D curved Glass screen protector is not 100% satisfactory. Ultrasonic fingerprint unlocking is a big technology issue in the market that is not perfectly solved yet, especially on tempered glass. The obvious circle is the unique solution to the tempered glass screen protector. Because there is a special glue on the fingerprint area to make it faster and more stable unlock. You can consider other materials such as Tpu, Pet, and Glass with the UV Lamp instead of only glass if the circle is not acceptable.

Is it made of tempered glass for Galaxy S23 Ultra?

Yes, the S23 Ultra screen cover is made of 9H Tempered Glass. But it can't tell if it's Glass or Plastic by the appearance. You can use a lighter to burn the screen protector to tell it. Because based on the scientific fact that the Melting Point of most plastic at between 320~ 410°F while the glass material is at least over 2552°F. For details please see the video. 
Friendly note: the meltable part is a screen protector layer that is plastic to protect you and the screen from damage while bursting.

So does this mean in the end the only properly responsive part is the fingerprint spot? I see in the video constant tapping all over to select things.
