Loved it
It conveys information in such a great way. It is also full of useful things to know. My dad bought it for my 10th birthday and I loved it. Overall, it was an amazing book.

A gift for someone else.
A book I loved when I was a young reader. Still highly readable.

Amazing book. I wish I had read it as ...
Amazing book. I wish I had read it as a child. It probably romanticizes microbiology a bit, but in the process it makes it quite an enjoyable read. You'll probably want to go out and buy a little microscope and see what got these guys so hooked!

An interesting look into the past
The subject is interesting, although the writing is done in a rather florid, old-fashioned style. (It was written the in the 1920's, I believe.) So there is the use of some objectionable stereotypes about people from other countries, etc. It was also a bit long-winded in some parts, which is why I deducted 1 star.

A book I treasure
I was so glad to buy this book. As a 7th grader---I am now 71 years old---the school librarian told me she had found a book she thought I would like. Reading this book was the beginning of my love for science. I graduated from college with a major in Bateriology which is now called Microbiology. I taught beginning Biology and Anatomy Labs at a Junior College later on in my life. This book arrived in a timely fashion and was just what I had hoped. Thank you.

Just about to come apart
The book itself is a bit of an old classic, but I didn't expect to not be able to read it. It's a good book, just not in a functional quality to read from.

Timeless Classic
I first read this book 56 years ago and I have reread it twice since. This one was a gift for a friend, shipped direct. He says that it arrived quickly and was an uncirculated library copy in perfect condition. My friend is looking forward to reading it too. He will become one of those rare people at a party who knows who invented the microscope, why Pasteur is important yet unfulfilled and what Walter Reed did to get a hospital named after him.
