Runs Armbian Bionic Server and Armbian Bionic Desktop perfectly
The goal was to test the performance of the processor as a VPN router. This computer uses an an octocore Exynos 5422 processor. With a 110Mbps connection, I was able to get a max of 65Mbps on a VPN over ethernet. That's good, better than my older router. Also faster than the new Intel Atom Z8350 processor as a VPN, which maxed out at 45Mbps as a VPN router. I was hoping to get closer to 100Mbps so I will still search for a more powerful processor to handle that requirement. This mini pc does in fact run Armbian Bionic (ARM version of Ubuntu Server 18.04) without issue. It also ran Armbian Bionic Desktop just fine too. The trick is to first run through the setup with:username: rootpassword: 1234Then create a user account, after which it will boot into the desktop environment. The username and password is also the same for the Server edition of Armbian.I did not try installing windows 10 since, there are no ARM compatible windows installations yet that I know of.Great computer for the price, in fact, its crazy that its so cheap. I wish it came with a case. Seriously, even a $3 plastic case. I have yet to order a case to fit this, since it is NOT compatible with that Raspberry Pi form factor, and every time I touch it I hope I don't shock it with static discharge and fry it. Seller - please include a case with a bundle, it's worth it for us.The board can get pretty hot even just idling, and there are many sharp edges making it uncomfortable to handle as a bare board.Overall this computer works well as a server or a desktop environment. Keep in mind it is running on a mobile smartphone processor (This one came in the Samsung Note 3) so it won't have the power of a true desktop or even a laptop. Also, this is a 32 bit ARM architecture, FYI, so it will not run any 64 bit OS's.

A lot of power for a SBC, A few headaches as well.
Fast, but finicky. I have a fair amount of time with SBCs, this one is powerful, but more picky than others I have used. To get a working SD based install I had to use an Odroid specific image burner. I am currently running Android TV on my XU4 and I am using the Odroid usb wireless device. The first hour working with this SBC was disappointing until I found the Odroid image burner. I was about to send the XU4 back. If you have issues, make sure you get the modified burner. I was using Windows, it may not be an issue using command line Linux when placing the image on an SD card. The XU4 runs android TV well. I have installed Hulu and Kodi. I have heard that the Netflix app is the same as the cell phone app and doesn't do HD, but I have yet to verify that.

Good, but not great
I bought one of these to try several home projects, mainly to use as a minecraft server, but also as a retroarcade. It does run slightly better than the raspberry pi3, but theres very little support so youll have to do a lot of self troubleshooting or digging around for info rather than having premade images that you can just download. I still have yet to try the pi4, but the pi4 specs are supposedly better than this xu4 and cheaper in price so theres really no reason to get this xu4 anymore. Its also bigger than the raspberry pi's, so if youre trying to keep the build small, its better to go with the raspberries anyway. At this point i dont really see any reason to be purchasing these.

Perfect for emulation!
If you want to have a single board 'computer' to run your classic good old games, that's your best choice. Yes! It doesn't come with built-in wireless and no Bluetooth either. You can buy a wireless antenna but, make sure it's made to work with your O'Droid. It doesn't work with any antenna. This tiny little thing is a beast when comes to emulation. You can even emulate some PSP games! It is smaller than the Raspberry Pi and way faster. Love it!!

Excellent running machine
All I can say is wow! This thing blows a raspberry pi completely out of the water. I wish I would have bought this sbc a while back and not wasted time with the rPi series. I bought a 64gb eMMC to go along with this and had zero problems with booting or data corruption. Don’t waste your time or money on an rPi, get yourself an Odroid XU4!

Reliable, but Noisy
Worked as intended. I purchased this to be a headless file server. It took a little bit of trial and error to find an image of OpenMediaVault that would boot. I was able to find a bootable image on the third try. Have been running this device continuously for four months running backups of one of my other computers. My only complaint is that the fan is a bit squeaky and tends to upset our cats and can be heard over quiet scenes in movies. I have read that adjusting the thresholds of the fan can eliminate the squeak, but I haven’t had the time to figure it out just yet.

Not a Raspi, but a great and more powerful SBC,
For the newcomer to the XU4, it is a lot more powerful versus the Raspberry Pi, but with less online and printed information to research. With that said, I had a rocky start since i didn't set SD vs EMMC to boot, fortunately the support was excellent and got me back on track. Thanks again.
