Rich antiqued leather graces the upper of the handcrafted Taylor Short boot from FRYE Women's, exhibiting true western appeal with a bit of an urban edge. Full side zip closure. Leather linings. Tapered toe. Stacked heel. The Frye Company is the oldest continuously operated shoe company in the United States. Founded in 1863 by John A. Frye, a well-to-do shoemaker from England, and family-run until 1945, Frye products have a long and illustrious history. Frye boots were worn by soldiers on both sides of America's Civil War, soldiers in the Spanish-American war, and by Teddy Roosevelt and his Rough Riders. When home-steading drew adventurous New England families to the West during the mid and late 1800's many of the pioneers wore Frye Boots for the long journey. Today Frye remains true to its roots with its line of heritage boots, but continues to innovate as it introduces chic new handbags, pumps, and sandals to its collection.

Best boots ever
These are the best, highest quality boots I've ever owned. No break-in required. I was afraid they would scream "cowboy boots" (not my favorite look) but I was delighted to find out they are just very classy boots. I ordered dark brown, and they did not disappoint in their richness. Definitely worth the price paid, as I expect them to last forever. They're extremely comfortable & the leather has that desired worn-in look, which will just improve with age. I ordered these a half-size larger than usual (like running shoes) since I anticipate a lot of air travel (swollen feet) in these boots. They feel perfect - not too big...they probably would've fit well in my regular size, too. The leather is sumptuous & has that luxurious "new-car" smell. I have large calves but there's plenty of room in these boots to tuck in my skinny jeans. My feet are a little wider than Medium, but Wide shoes are too wide, and these boots give me plenty of wiggle room. Perfect for the office, under my dressy slacks. Shipment came via FedEx 3 days after order placement!

Great fit, wonderful leather & assembly
Very high quality leather & construction. They're narrow at the top, which is hard to find with a bootie style, but makes it so I can wear these under straight-leg jeans. The toe box is average-to-wide; I have a C-width foot and they fit me perfectly. The toe area is a bit elongated, giving it a western boot look & feel. The heel padding is substantial, but I can feel where it ends, making it a little odd when first wearing them. But I got used to it quickly. There's minimal arch support & padding under the ball of the foot. The leather soles make these slick the first few times wearing them, but they scuffed up within a couple days and gained traction. Love these boots & would recommend them to others.

Love My Fryes!!
Wow! I love these boots!I purchased the last pair of 7.5 in eggplant (No 8's in stock). I wanted these boots for the color as much as the style. This color is not available anywhere else but Amazon and are almost sold out. Thought I would have to return these and was afraid that I had missed out but these fit perfectly. The short shaft is great! My calf is too large for the tall shaft Fryes. My boots got noticed & I got compliments the first time out. I'm soooo happy!! I have worn Frye boots since the 80's and they are absolutely the best!

Perfect Short Boot
Besides saying that Frye boots and shoes are of the highest quality - these boots specifcally are a great height, supple, and break-in quick. I read mixed reviews on the sizing - and purchased both a 9 and 9 1/2 (I have average width feet, not skinny, and not wide). I'm normally a straight up 9 in almost all shoes, no matter the style. It's the case with these boots as well - so I recommend going with your normal shoe size. These will stretch out a bit overtime - so definitely do not size up.

Not the typical frye leather ...
Love the boot however the leather was a bit deceiving in comparison to all my other frye boots. I expected more of a softer leather but I love the height of the heel so I'll keep the boot.

Frye Taylor Short Boots
Love the way these boots look, but the width is a little more narrow in the toe area than I would like. I can wear them for about 7 hours comfortably.

Don't care for "Smoke" and they run true to size
As my title says, I don't care for the "Smoke" color at all - it is very dull. I thought I was 1/2 size smaller in Frye's, but I was wrong. These seem to fit true to size. Should have gone with my normal 8.

who doesn't love these boots!
These boots were a Christmas present from my husband and I adore them. As always Frye boots fit so well. The leather was incredibly smooth too...!
