SHIMANODeore BR-T610 V-Brakes - Black, 120 mm

Bought this to replace a tired, slightly bent front Tektro unit which came on a secondhand Islabike.It was straight forward to fit and adjust and after a day or so of initial bedding in, my son reported the brake felt "alot stoppier" :)

Treat yourself to these, the best Shimano V Brakes available. Unlike those off-brand brakes on your bike now, these come with their own bushings and replaceable shoes.The bushings need some explaining. Lesser V Brakes and cantilevers use the brake boss as the bushing, this means there is always a bit of fettling involved. These don't do that, they have their own bushing and therefore, if you put them on tight, they still have the spring tension they are designed to have.The replaceable shoes mean you can set them up once, getting the toe-in right. You can then replace the shoes,, even with after-market ones, knowing the toe in will be how you set it up the first time. This means no squeal or shudder.Do clean your wheels before putting these on, also true up your wheels. Also put fresh cables in, buying the best you can, Shimano or Jagwire.There is no difference between front and rear, just the orientation of the brake shoes. If stock of front or rear V Brakes is a problem, you can put fronts on the back or vice-versa. Just swap the shoes.The noodle can also be bent if you have a rear rack or anything else in the way of a clear cable run. Just use two pairs of pliers and don't crush the noodle.There is no nook to tuck the extra cable into which I was disappointed by. So only 5 rather than 11 stars due to that minor detail.A final thing - don't throw yourself over the bars due to your brakes actually working! Having brakes that work can require getting used to. That said, the modulation with these brakes and top quality cables is amazing, such a nice feel. Go get 'em - you deserve it!

My Tern cycles original brakes were sticky, and despite greasing the pivots they were still unbalanced, as it turned out the locating pin had twisted in the housing. These brakes have the correct arm length, and worked with the original 'noodle' which has a different bend on it. The brake boss body is larger than the originals but still clamped up fine onto the studs with a slight wobble for and aft but that doesn't affect the performance and I think it's probably intentional?

It feels like v-brakes are a thing of the past, but if you're still riding any bike with them and you want top performance the big brands have moved along their top lines to disc brakes systems. I've owned many generations of Shimano V-brakes from Alvio to XTR. These modern Shimano Deore V-brakes lack the top end branding, but still inherit all of the years of Shimano engineering. These modern Deore V-brakes perform as well as older generation XTR v-brakes. Trickle-down technology rules. Great brakes for a great price. Easy to work on. Clean design.

I initially purchased a set of Rujoi V-brakes for my 23 year old MTB. Cantilevers just don't brake with the newer brake levers. The 1st Rujoi set had a broken positioning pin. The 2nd set was holding loosely on the fork. Simply put, these V-brakes are well worth the money. Solidly built, they fit perfectly and solidly in place, the nuts come with loc-tite on them... I can now do stoppies again with full confidence.I am sure that these are the last brakes I'm buying for this bike.

Buenos solo mas pequeños que unos convencionales

Ich habe die Deore Bremse für Vorne und Hinten bestellt (120mm und 140mm stand dabei). Den Unterschied sehe ich allerdings nicht, auch konnte ich keinen Unterschied messen. Beides passt auch jeweils vorn und hinten, zumindest bei meinem Rad. Auch die Kabelführung hat keinen unterschiedlichen Winkel. Lediglich auf der Verpackung war eine unterschiedliche Beschriftung. Da der Preis gleich war, ist das aber auch egal.Ich habe mein Tern Faltrad damit bestückt. Wie bei vielen anderen Nutzern auch (Bereich Faltrad, BMX und Mountainbike), passen diese nicht genau in die Canti-Aufnahme. Es lässt sich aber trotzdem einbauen und funktioniert auch. Sie gucken halt ein wenig über (ca.1-2mm). Eine Funktionsminderung konnte ich nicht feststellen.Schrauben für die Canti-Aufnahme (müssten 6mm sein) sind dabei, allerdings in schwarz. Bremsbacken sind auch dabei. Bei den Bremsbacken lassen sich die Gummis wechseln. Hab ich noch nicht versucht, aber sie haben einen Splint, was dafür spricht.Insgesamt bin ich sehr zufrieden und würde die Bremse wieder kaufen.
