Calibration issues Kestrel 3000
Although i think the kestrel is a superb bit of kit that gives so much important information out and about on the hills i have a massive issue with the calibration which makes you question all the other data being given. I went out in the latest storm Eowyn Jan 2025 and as it built up our local military airfield 2 miles away recorded 82mph. I could only get one gust at nearly 40mph but mostly around 24mph when i struggled to stand upright???? The manufacturer was a great help and told me there’s a potential fault. Refund and return was no problem but another customer expressed a similar issue on a review but with another sensor reading so ive opted to not even replace it as I’ve lost faith. Such a shame

Expensive mistake
Calibration way off. Reading is about 50% of reference value. Cheaper, accurate anemometers are available.Otherwise, well built, well designed, but as there seems to be no way for user to calibrate this imported device, it is ultimately useless.Follow up - today, it is blowing at > 30 knots. Kestrel reads 3 knots. I bought this instrument for professional use, measuring ventilation quantities, and for personal use sailing, and on the hills. An expensive thermometer!
