What do Charles Dow, Jesse Livermore, and Richard Ney have in common? They used volume and price to anticipate where the market was heading next and so built their vast fortunes. For them, it was the ticker tape; for us, it is the trading screen. The results are the same and can be for you, too. I make no bones about believing I was lucky to start my own trading journey using volume. To me it just made sense. The logic was inescapable. And for me, the most powerful reason is very simple. Volume is a rare commodity in trading - a leading indicator. The second and only other leading indicator is price. Everything else is lagged. There's ONLY one question! As traders, investors, or speculators, all we are trying to do is to forecast where the market is heading next. Is there any better way than to use the only two leading indicators we have at our disposal, namely volume and price? In isolation, each tells us very little. After all, volume is just that, no more no less. A price is a price. However, combine these two forces, and the result is a powerful analytical approach to forecasting market direction with confidence. What you will discover This book will teach you all you need to know from first principles. So whether you're a day trader or a longer-term investor in any market, instrument, or timeframe, this book is the perfect platform to set you on the road to success and join those iconic traders of the past. All you need to succeed is a chart with volume and price…simple.

Buy this book, everyone!
As a novice Trader, I've bought many, many trading books from Amazon in the recent past (136 to be precise), including at least four, specifically on 'Volume'. Indeed, this is my first review on all the trading books that I've bought.Anna's book - 'A Complete Guide to Volume Price Analysis' is by far the best book on the subject that I've ever read. She knows her stuff and most importantly, knows how to impart the knowledge to others. The way she explains the subject matter, the analogies that she draws and the many examples that she gives, can, but only go to make you a better Trader, if you listen to her and practise what you've learnt from the book. Once you've fully read Anna's book and understood it, you will always be one step ahead of the game because you know what's going on in the market that you are trading. The signs given by price and it's other sibling (volume) would either prompt you to step aside and wait (instead of jumping in to take a trade and lose) or give you the green light to go ahead and take a trade with confidence, alongside the operators, and win.I honestly think that this book is highly under-priced, considering the wealth of information that it contains. Personally, I'd have been too happy to pay £24.99 for it, if not more. Then again, it's up to the author to charge what she thinks the book is worth, if she's testing the market. In my eyes, it's worth a lot, lot more than she is charging for it.One thing I know for sure is that there are very many rubbish trading books out there that are selling for far more, without any new ground-breaking information, unlike Anna's book. Many of those useless trading books are aimed at the new Trader (like me), with snazzy, get-rich-quick titles and full of utter rubbish. This book of Anna's teaches you the meat and bone of trading - why? - because it teaches you how to read the market. Once learnt, those skills would remain with you for the rest of your life, such that you'll never be afraid to take a trade if the conditions are right or simply step aside and wait.My advice to any Trader out there - whether a novice (like me), experienced or whatever, is to BUY THIS BOOK so as to truly read the market. Yes, buy this book if you want to learn how to read the market correctly. You will be amazed. Anna has laid it all out for you in this great book. If you really want to know, so many so-called Expert and Professional traders do NOT understand Volume and how it influences Price Action, the author does and I commend her for it.Lastly, in view of her immense knowledge on the crucial but elusive subject of Volume Price Analysis, I'd request the author to get a DVD out (asap), to accompany the book and flog it on Amazon for £49.99. I'll be the first person to buy it.NB:Anna has also got another book out on Amazon which I've bought as well but can not say anything about it because I haven't had the time to read it, as I've been concentrating on Price Volume Analysis.

Essential reading, grasp it or forever follow the 90% who lose money.
I was reading some Tom Williams and Gavin Holmes about VSA but they are forever trying to promote their software and when Gavin mentions that their software has over 400 indicators I thought woah hold your horses that is for mugs (and if you don't know why then...).I then found this concise explanation of volume to complement price action analysis (along with support, resistance, trends).Turns out Anna took Tom Williams course some years ago (exorbitant price charged by Williams usual old sales techniques, go to the seminar, become one of the "elite" chosen ones and hand over your money)Anyway as Anna explains adding volume to price action has been going on since Dow, Livermore and Wyckoff, but Anna explains it in a concise and logical way that I found easy to understand.I am an experienced day trader having lost 10's of thousands over 20 years lol.As a direct result of reading this book (and I have read the lot!) I am beginning to better read and predict forex charts and I think this book may just turn my trading around thanks Anna :)

Potentially Essential
A clear link to price action strategies is made clear with the VPA guide. Anna’s teachings suggests VPA further adapts strategies to be more specific conditionally to help the trader make better informed trades. I’ll be adapting my PA strategy to include this and testing it in line with the teachings. Some info was repeated too much and I’d say it’s aimed at trading novices. For experienced traders you may be best to just watch some videos and skim the book lightly. All in its good but could be worked on in areas such as making the diagrams more readable and better presented.Worth a read

Highly Recommended Read
I am new to trading and still very much at the stage of reading lots of books and trying things out on a Demo account. So far I have read 12 books and have a few more on my hit list. I have read a few books that have been very good and easy to read, with systems that seem reasonably straight forward to get to grips with and seem to work quite well. However, this is the first book I have read that takes you through things very carefully and fully with lots of schematic and real chart examples whilst making the explanations and examples dead easy to follow and understand. At first I wasn't too sure about the number of schematics and lack of real charts, but the more I went through the book the more I liked the fact the author was using these. For me it really allowed for clear illustration of exactly what the author means by each of her descriptions. I also liked the fact that the author doesn't hype this strategy as been a get a rich quick, or some wonder strategy that Anna came up with herself. Instead, the author makes it clear from the start that it took her a long time to get this system off pat and that she learned it through a course that she completed.I have now finished the book but started using the technic on my Demo account whilst still reading and quickly generated much more success than anything else I have tried. I also find it really straight forward to use. I'm not saying it is easy, as like everything related to trading it takes concentration. However, whilst I was reading, I really liked the fact that what was being said seemed very logical and really seemed to make sense.

An excellent book for the beginner.
This book is one of my top trading books. Anna has a style of writing which just works. From the outset you can feel her honesty and passion for wanting you as the new trader to be successful in the markets. I could write paragraphs of reasons why you should buy this book, but this has all been covered on other reviews. However what I would like to say is Anna also responds personally to answer any questions or concerns you may have. This is the measure of a fantastic author and an exceptional trader who has given us the greatest gift anyone could wish for as a new trader. Anna gives her years of exspierence and knowledge and a proven route to success. If you want to make money in the markets do yourself a favour buy this book as it opens so many doors to trading successfully on the profitable side following the big players. The thing you need most is knowledge in the markets. This is exactly what you get from this book over 16 years worth. A must buy book that I would put with only a couple of other books out of hundreds on the market. Anna is the real deal an author who has actually done it.

Wonderful insight to volume and price action
Extremely helpful and a book which expands on the need to analyse and understand the relationship of volume on every chart and time frame, this really will assist me in developing a stronger more targeted game plan. An absolute brilliant read and I'm so glad it was suggested by Thor Young at Bear Bull Traders. Thank you Anna Coullling.

Every word in this book is a diamond.
Thanks Anna Coulling for sharing such a valuable knowledge with us.This book has changed my trading approach to the market and make me a profitable trader. I have been to so many courses and seminars but no one share this secret of Volume price analysis (VPA) with us. It does work and you can read the market exactly like professionals. Volume price analysis is very powerful and after reading this book it will protect your trading capital that when to enter a trade and when to exit which is the most difficult part in this game. This book will give you confidence and an opportunity that how to avoid the losing trades. Thanks Anna it has double my small trading account in three weeks time. I will highly recommend this book to beginners, professionals and the training courses providers to read this book first and then start the journey of trading with success without failure.

Great book poor quality printing
This book is an easy and concise read that is essential for understanding the relationship between volume and price in the market. My only criticism is the charts examples in the book are all printed in poor quaity black and white which makes understanding them very challenging. For a £20 book I am sure they could have afforded to add a little color to make things clearer. Apart from that I would highly recommend this book

Open letter to author Anna Coulling
Dear AnnaI just finished reading your book A Complete Guide to Volume Price Analysis for the second time, this time making valuable hand written notes, the only way I can truly remember things. This book is by far and wide the best book I have ever read on Price and Volume, and that says a lot as I have over 200 books on investing/charting etc. in my personal collection.I enjoyed reading this book, your examples were great, the super tanker etc... very clever. After I read through it the first time I could see more clearly what the charts were trying to tell me, I experienced the proverbial "Penny Drop". I use StockCharts.com as my charting service so I am able to customize my charts to better reflect what you have taught in this book. I read it a second time to hone in on these skills and make the notes, as my 55 year old brain is getting rather full and needs a little cramming at times.I have recommended this book to others on Stocktwits, as well as to friends. The friends who took advantage of the Kindle steal of a price were very happy with what they learned.I have been trading the markets for about 20 years, and I often get people asking me how they can learn and which is the best way, well the solution is easy, I recommend your book, then its Stan Weinstein's - Secrets For Profiting in Bull and Bear Markets, and Jesse Stine's - Insider Buy Superstocks. If they can get through all three, well they have the answers to about every possible question I can think of.Nothing comes easy in this life that is truly worth its while, and trading the markets is no different. There is no holy grail or get rich quick formula out there, well one that I have been able to find anyway, and I have looked, and I have handed over hard earned money to the internet charlatans, only to come away with the same conclusion as I stated above. The answer is easy, study, study, and more study! This book is about as close to the grail as I have come. Thanks for sharing your wisdom and trading experiences with us.If you have a mailing list for new publications, please add my email address to it.Kind RegardsNeil BowieBC, CANADA
