ParkerJotter Gel Pen, Red and Chrome, Medium Point, Black Ink

One of my favorites!
This pen isn’t exactly eye-catching, and no one would really know it’s a fountain pen until you start writing with it. However, it has quickly become one of my most trusted and beloved fountain pens. One of its qualities is that it’s not huge like a “typical” fountain pen can be. It’s sleek, stylish, and well made.I own several fountain pens - half of them are the cheaper Chinese pens. This Parker is much more reliable though. I never use the ink cartridges when I get a new pen, but my converter hadn’t come yet, so I tried this one out. It comes with blue ink (I hate blue ink!), but I absolutely fell in love with the color of the ink! It’s the only blue ink about which I’ve ever said - “Wow! ! I like that color!” It has a lot of purple in it, so this has become my card-writing pen because of the reliability and nice ink color. I’ll continue to use their ink unless I find another similar color (I usually use Noodler’s inks due to their bulletproof qualities). The blue ink cartridge is the only blue I’ve ever looked forward to writing with. In fact, out of probably 50 gel and fountain pens I own, this is the only blue ink I use in any of them. The pen posts well and writes well - not too wet or dry. It is well-tuned right out of the packaging. The nib has a small rounded tip that keeps the fine tip from being scratchy. I own a Lamy EF that I had to tune with 2500 sandpaper because it was so scratchy. Not this Parker! I rinsed it, put the cartridge in it, and it started writing well in about a minute. My only complaint is that it’s pretty light for a fountain pen. It truly is a jotter - long writing times could lead to hand fatigue because the pen doesn’t have enough weight to glide like a quality fountain pen does. That’s my only knock I have about the pen. However, you can write relatively fast without any loss of ink, and the cap keeps the ink wet so that you don’t even have to tap it before beginning to write with it.If you’re wanting to try out fountain pens for the first time, or if you’re looking for an Every Day Carry fountain, I suggest you go with this one. Parker converters are a little expensive, but their Qwink ink cartridges are decent (again, the blue is unique).

Pen-Ultimate
The pen is mightier than the sword but it may be easier to find the right sword. For eight years I’ve been writing exclusively with a Uni-ball Signo Bit stick pen. It’s an unassuming, affordable plastic stick pen in the sea of the same but it writes nicely and, until recently, it was readily available from eBay for about $1.25.When the ink in my second-to-last Signo pen expired, pushing me below the minimum re-order quantity, I knew time was of the essence to replenish my pen inventory. I’ve purchased about dozen boxes of these pens from eBay so naturally I visited eBay for a resupply but I could find no Signo Bit pens matching what I had! I searched other sites on the Internet and still no luck. I shopped several local brick and mortar stores where I found many related pens: siblings, cousins, but not the real thing. I reluctantly concluded I was not going to find my pen - a pen I’d been calling the “World’s Greatest Pen”.My new mission was to to find an affordable, competent replacement pen which equalled or surpassed the writing experience of the World’s Greatest Pen. I followed my father’s advice “Let your fingers do the walking.”, an allusion to the 1962 Yellow Pages advertisement. For those who may not know what I’m talking about, the Yellow Pages was the business section of the ancient device known as a telephone book. A telephone book was a list all telephone numbers of individuals and businesses. Before the Internet the telephone was a key research tool.I was surprised to discover numerous pen-related blogs, many of them recommending the Uni-ball Jetstream RT. The Uni-ball website says the Jetstream RT offers smoother writing and quick-drying ink. The latter is a boon for lefties whose hand trails the pen during writing and often smears the fresh words while accumulating an unsightly ink stain giving the writer the appearance of an unwashed orphan from a Charles Dickens’ novel.I purchased a package of two Uni-ball Jetstream RTs from a local office supply store. I hurried home and began writing these words as I wanted to tell the world I had found my new World’s Greatest Pen. However the Uni-ball Jetstream RT was a disappointment. They skipped and they did not write smoothly. In fact they were so bad I had to resort to my last Signo World’s Greatest Pen to finish this story. I returned the Jetstream RT pens and received a refund which I used for the next candidate pen.Enter the Zebra JIMNIE GEL, a pen also praised on blogs although not as highly as the Jetstream RT. The JIMNIE is no pretender. It is a cheap, clunky stick pen with no imagination wasted on its design. It seems to be a copy of a copy of a copy of a copy of what was probably a great pen. Maybe, even a copy of my beloved Signo Bit and former World’s Greatest Pen? The JIMNIE GEL writing experience, the ink on paper, was similar to the Signo and if I closed my eyes I could smile (but not write legibly) until I realized I was holding cheapness. The JIMNIE was not acceptable. As I continued my search, sifting through the bloggers celebrating the usual suspects of affordable pens: Uni-Ball, Pilot, and Zebra, etc., I found another group of bloggers talking about the Parker Jotter pen. Hmmm? This is a pen I had encountered before and had some limited experience with many years ago. I had forgotten about the Jotter but the clever name seemed to be perfect for an affordable, general purpose pen.I bought a Parker Jotter pen with a black satin and stainless steel barrel and I am pleased. It is affordable, classic, and, most importantly, it writes nicely. I am sold. I’ve since purchased additional Jotters in various colors. The Parker Jotter was exactly what I was looking for and I have found my new World’s Greatest Pen. Maybe the Uni-ball Signo Bit pen, as good as it was, was nothing more than the penultimate pen for me?p.s. Waterloo Blue, how cool is that?

Interesting Pen. like it with a pinch of salt.
I almost decided to return this pen after finding that it does not come with an ink converter. So please be warned that if you are planning to use ink from a bottle you will need to buy the converter separately. I would think most fountain pen enthusiasts would be using ink from a bottle.Anyways, it is quiet thin for a fountain pen. Initially I was turned off by that too but after writing a little with it I actually started liking it. It would be a good candidate to take around to meetings being very inconspicuous. Loved the blue color of the pen as well as the ink (cartridge) that came with it. I struggled a bit with the cartridge that came with it and finally got the right side in (the blue tab if you are wondering). Better instructions would be appreciated. Not just that it writes well but the blue ink made my bad handwriting look better. The writing shows lighter and darker portions of the text which look attractive to me. You know, the portions where you overwrite a letter v/s the portions that one goes over just once.I know everyone wants us to buy their high end products rather than buying their $20 products but Parker could've made a better impression on me by including a converter. I've bought cheaper pens which came with a free converter.

Fake
This pen is a fake!! I have one I bought from pen shop in Liverpool Street and when I opened he packaging the Parker packaging was not right. I then weighted the pen and it was too light . It was not metallic at all - all plastic. So I took it to the pen shop and they confirmed it was fake. I will be returning this immediately.

Very disappointed
Very disappointed with this pen for a Parker very light weight & felt cheap, but more annoying was, it was going to be a gift and someone at Amazon decided to sellotape the end with a large 2inch piece of sellotape so when you tried to remove the outer sleeve of the gift box it was all stuck together & would have torn the gift box, this was not a good look to give as a present as it would have looked seconhand and cheap at the same time. Very very disappointed with Amazon so ended up buying a much nicer one from EBay.

" It Doesn't Write At All " , " It Glides BEAUTIFULLY "
First thing you will notice if you know what your looking for, is it is an "Original Parker Pen" not one of those fake Parker's you can pick up at your local market. That was my main fear. Original pens do not write, "They Glide", bringing back the fun in writing "I am using the Gel Version". This in turn improves your hand writing skills by at least 20 - 40% in my opinion. If your were to compare a Bic "with the end chewed off lol" with a Parker, well there wouldn't be much of a comparison and at the low cost of the Parker Jotter, it wouldn't break the bank even if you did loose it. As for photos, you dont need any from me as the images already produced from Amazon are spot on. You get what you see here.10/10 for Parker you will never look back.
