Use THIS One!
There are SO MANY cables that advertise “Thunderbolt 4 compatible,” but that are NOT Intel-certified Thunderbolt 4. If it doesn’t have the Thunderbolt lightning icon and “4” on the cable ends, it’s NOT true T-bolt 4. This one is. Works great with Dual 4K @ 60Hz video. Works great with CalDigit TBolt4 Dock.

Good, solid Thunderbolt 3 cable; worked with eGPU
Bought this cable to replace super-short cable included with Thunderbolt 3 eGPU enclosure. Good length, solid connection -- cable matters knows their cables 😁

Way Too Slow
I bought this cable primarily for backing up my 2021 MBP to external SSDs, one of which is a Thunderbolt 3 and the other is a Thunderbolt 4. The MBP runs macOS 14.6.1, has 64 GB of RAM and its USB-C ports are all Thunderbolt 4. Each device has a theoretical bandwidth of 40 GB second, just not with this cable. My initial use of this cable was to backup the internal SSD to an external SSD device with >1TB of free space. The backup copied 70 GBs, and took 21 minutes. If they were functioning at their max speed, this should theoretically take less than a minute. This cable is being returned.

Works perfectly, high quality braided cable
Pros:• Seems to work perfectly at 40 Gbps!• Very nice braided fabric outer covering for cable• The USB-C plug ends are marked with the Thunderbolt 4 logoCons:• Relatively thick and stiff cable (but not excessively)• No power rating or USB logos on plugs• No Velcro or rubber cable tie includedThis cable does exactly what it claims to do. It provides full 40 Gbps Thunderbolt connectivity and 100W Power Delivery with a 2-meter length. That sounds simple, but really requires complex engineering to accomplish. There are passive cables that claim to support this, but their quality is questionable. This cable claims to be actively driven. This means there is additional circuitry to properly drive the long 2-meter cable length and ensure signal integrity.Fully testing these high-speed cables takes very sophisticated and expensive test equipment to measure “eye-opening” of the signal. That is beyond what I was capable of testing, but I did functionally test using an ACASIS Thunderbolt NVMe drive enclosure with an Apple M1 based MacBook Pro. With that, the external drive properly enumerated as Thunderbolt at 40 Gbps and performed perfectly, essentially the same as with a short about 1 foot Thunderbolt cable the enclosure came with.I also tested with a SanDisk Extreme external SSD. This is a 10 Gbps USB-C drive. It worked perfectly with this drive as well, showing downward compatibility with USB-C at 10 Gbps. The cable also meets its claims of supporting 100W Power Delivery. I confirmed that with an external 100W USB-C charger the charger and cable enumerated as 100W and powered the MacBook Air.The cable is rather thick. I didn’t measure with calipers, but it appears almost ¼” thick. While it is flexible, it is also a bit stiff. For a fixed desktop use this shouldn’t be any issue, but for travel it may be a minor consideration. The outside of the cable is a very nice, black braided fabric covering that appears to be both of high quality and durable. The thickness may well be due to heavier gauge wires for both signals and power delivery, and high-quality shielding for improved signal integrity. As I’ve accumulated various USB-C cables, I’ve become far more concerned about marking on the cable or plugs with capabilities and ideally logo certified markings. Without these markings it is nearly impossible to know the capabilities of a cable just by looking at it. I have a very similar looking braided cable from another manufacturer that only supports 480 Mbps data transfer. This has become a bit of a pet peeve for me. This cable does include the Thunderbolt logo and the number 4, indicating that it supports up to Thunderbolt 4 operation. This also implies USB-4 operation, and defines 40 Gbps support. There are no USB logos or ratings, nor is there any marking for power delivery capability. There are no markings on the cable, or even the packaging that indicates that this is an active cable either.Overall, this is an excellent cable. It should support any application you use it for including Thunderbolt, at the highest performance levels. While definitely overkill for a simple charger cable, it will support 100W PD. The only capability this cable lacks is the very recent update to USB-C PD for 240W support. That doesn’t seem much of a limitation at this point as seemingly no computers support that specification yet.Below is relevant data from the Mac system report showing 40 Gbps and 100W support:Thunderbolt/USB4 Bus 1:Vendor Name: Apple Inc.Device Name: MacBook AirUID:Route String: 0Domain UUID:Port:Status: Device connectedLink Status: 0x2Speed: Up to 40 Gb/s x1Current Link Width: 0x2Receptacle: 2TBU401E:Vendor Name: ACASISDevice Name: TBU401EMode: Thunderbolt 3Device ID: 0x1Vendor ID: 0x25Device Revision: 0x1UID:Route String: 1Firmware Version: 67.1Port (Upstream):Status: Device connectedLink Status: 0x2Speed: Up to 40 Gb/s x1Current Link Width: 0x2Link Controller Firmware Version: 1.45.0AC Charger Information:Connected: YesID: 0x0000Wattage (W): 100Family: 0xe000400aCharging: No
