Is the usb charging cable to charge the light hardwired in or does it plug in? how long is the cable?

It comes with a short wire that attaches to a USB . So as long as you have acces to that you can use it. It lasts about 8 hours once a charged.

Can you turn this lamp on with the remote from a distance? Also is it rain proof? Thanks

Firstly It is not remote controlled ! As for being waterproof I would doubt it. The USB port has a rubber protection cover but the USB itself is wrapped around the lamp without any cover. That said, this is the best lantern I’ve ever bought. Holds its charge for months and the magnets are superb
