Want to learn guitar from scratch?
This is The Book. All the basics are covered, and the book progresses at a steady pace with short daily excercises. Learn to play in 28 days without feeling like you are being slave driven. CD shows you how each excercise should sound if you get it right.

A Good Starting Place
A good book that definitely helped to get started with the guitar - would recommend to other beginners, even if it is a little slow to start off with - I was finding that I needed 3 days' worth of exercises to feel suitably challenged to start with, although by later in the book, the expectation of what could be achieved in a day was more sensible.

No regrets
If you have an acoustic guitar and you're a complete beginer then this is the perfect book... easy to follow, with a helpful CD and motivating. Don't be put off by the cheesy title. I wasn't and have no regrets :)

Good starting point but can be frustrating
I have musical knowledge and can read music. I understand different rhythms etc. From this point of view there are parts of this book that are too basic for me. This made me a bit impatient at times and skip pages - not a good idea. However, I could not previously play guitar, only keyboard, and so from this point of view the book very good. I have small thick fingers which, despite anything you may be told, are a big disadvantage. However, I am starting to cope with this even those I am having to adapt some of the chord shapes in the book. A decent buy.

Great Book
I got this book as a present, and they have told me that it was very useful for them. They wanted to teach themselves how to play the guitar, and that this was extremely helpful in allowing them to do that.

Super book, also mentioned in another super book called Guitar Zero by Gary Marcus
The initial quite long description of the starting phases of learning is really clear and detailed, just what I need to confirm the expertise of the author.
