Buffalo! [Boddington, Craig] on desertcart.com. *FREE* shipping on qualifying offers. Buffalo! Review: What a book - This was my first time reading Boddington. Plain-spoken, direct, and honest, Boddington honors the animal, while intentionally foregoing hyperbole and fable. If you're here, you've read the romantic works of Ruark and Hemmingway, and no doubt several of Capstick's as well. This book is not a rollicking journal of hangovers and tall tales of the demon beasts of Africa--it is a well-set, nicely formatted, and immediately credible study of Cape Buffalo, with a brief informational breakdowns on suitable gun types, suggested calibers (both thankfully brief), as well chapter on Australian water buffalo. The author shows wisdom here in keeping his discussions on these subjects reasoned and succinct. There are other books already available for lengthy, encyclopeadic caliber comparisons and discussions (see Pondoro Taylor). Having never been to Africa, for me, Boddington's Buffalo! felt refreshing, real, and modern. He spoke of current conditions (limited hunts vs wider bags of days past), and I feel that the lack of chest pounding and matter of fact tone gave his voice credibility. There is also a very decent section regarding shot placement, with helpful overlay illustrations. This book had many very good pictures, lengthy talk on how to judge a trophy--this was something I enjoyed, as an average American whitetail hunter attuned to counting points and sometimes spread. Very good book, I will go looking for more of Boddingtton's work in the future. Review: This is an excellent book. Very informative - This is an excellent book. Very informative, well written and complimented with superb photographs. Too may hunters have difficulty finding the correct balance between writing an exciting and dramatic account without demonising or disrespecting the animal. Craig Boddington gets it just right.....informative and exciting but always respectful.

A fun read
This book is a fun read. At the same time, it is not 'the last word' in buffalo hunting by any means. Despite that, it is a useful overview that will bring value to any aspiring buffalo hunter. I have ordered additional books from the same author - so his opinion remains valuable to me.

If you've ever dreamed of or are planning a hunt for Cape Buffalo, read this book first. You'll learn a lot!
A great book to read along with Kevin Robertson's "Africa's Most Dangerous." Both are about hunting Cape Buffalo in Africa and the two compliment each other well. I wish I'd read both of these books prior to my first hunt for Cape Buffalo. Much valuable information contained regarding rifles, calibers and bullet selections, and well as methods of hunting and preparation for the hunt.

Ready to go Buffalo huntin
This book is a good read. Reading Boddington's experience on subject matter that spans over 20 yrs makes me want to buy a ticket to Africa. I have been to Africa once for Plains Game but Cape Buffalo is on my bucket list. While I can't just get a ticket and go, reading material from Boddington, Capstick, and others is the next best thing.

Another great read by Craig.
What can I say? If you enjoy the sport of Buffalo hunting, or just the thought of it, this is a book from an author who's been there and done that many times over. If you don't have the time or ability and means of being there, this is a great substitute for sure!

I liked the setting , the action -
just have long held a visceral , intense dislike oif the author and what I perceive his attitudes to be. My modest 3 - star rating may be unfairly low.

Craig Boddington is my generation's Jack O'Connor. Actually that isn't fair, Boddington is better than O'Connor.
