Q: will this drill work on thinner steel

Out the box, this would not turn on unless it was sitting on 1"+ thick steel (a 4,000lb forklift fork) without putting the supplied microchip jumper in. Why isn't this installed at the factory?? I returned mine because I was upset that I spent 30-45 minutes screwing around plugging and unplugging, reading the owners manual & hoping to find a trouble shooting guide which didn't exist, and for what it cost, you shouldn't have to do a modification to the control panel to get it to operate on slightly thinner steel, which is where it will spend most of its life in my shop.

Q: Does this drill upside down well? Being a gravity feed coolant...

Holds well to material, drills fine. You must pump coolant to bit. I use a pump up yard sprayer.great drill.
