Question 1

Does this pass nhbc standards, we've been told we would void the warranty if we boarded the loft but i'm wondering if this is a solution.

Accepted Answer

Hello there, this is Dave Raval here from LoftZone, I’m one of the Directors and am happy to answer your question. LoftZone does not affect the NHBC warranty, and is in fact the only product with industry approval for lofts in new build houses. Let me explain:

Until recently, builders told people in new build houses that they mustn’t use their lofts for storage, because there was no product on the market that was safe whilst letting the insulation perform the way it is designed to. Some builders still give this advice, because they haven’t kept up. But LoftZone StoreFloor changed all that. It far exceeds all relevant British Standards, strengthens the joists in your loft, won Best New Invention from the Ideal Home Show, has the necessary “British Board of Agrément” certificate that means it can be fitted in new houses and we have it in writing from NHBC that it doesn’t affect their warranty. It’s been fitted into tens of thousands of UK houses, including thousands of new build properties, without any problems at all.

Question 2

How many boards

Accepted Answer

If you're using standard 1220x325x18mm loft boards, you'd need 15 of them (5 packs of 3)

Question 3

what is the dimension of the tri support, would this fit for joint of 33-35mm, would 18 x 600 x 2400mm chipboard fit?

Accepted Answer

The design of the support makes it suitable for any joist width. I'm sure the positions of the support system can be adjusted to suit the size of the loft boards.

Question 4

Could you use something like this in the garden to sit planters on?

Accepted Answer

No, and I have no idea why you would really. This is for use inside. It is not waterproof and has to be assembled to look like the pic. Is made stable by fixing it to joists in the loft, where it does an excellent job of boarding, for storage!
Planters in the garden are best sitting on ‘feet’ to allow water to drain through the drainage holes.
