Great Sounding Guitar With Solid Quality Control
I’ve been really happy with this guitar so far. It feels great to play, stays comfortable during longer sessions, and has held its tuning surprisingly well right out of the box. I’ve always had good experiences with Yamaha products in general, and this guitar continues that trend for me. The sound is warm and balanced, and it feels like a solid value for the price. One thing I noticed from reading previous reviews before buying was that some people recommended carefully inspecting the guitar for cosmetic or shipping defects when it arrives. I made sure to look over every inch of mine when I got it, and thankfully mine came in perfect condition with no issues at all. Overall, this has been a great acoustic guitar and feels like a reliable choice whether you’re newer to playing or just want a solid everyday acoustic.

Great for a beginner
My first guitar so I don't know enough to give a detailed review. But compared to some of the other beginner guitars I've heard and seen, this has a very good tone and seems to be well made. I have large hands so the dreadnought size is comfortable for me. Very happy with the purchase and already taking classes. Seems to stay in tune well. Great for a beginner.

Romeo and Juliet
Admired by several others, both family and friends, for aesthetic and tonal quality. Shoulder strap is just as pictured.

Great beginner guitar
It actually sounded pretty good, and seems like a perfect guitar for beginners because of the ease of pressing chords, but has no comparison to my Epiphone J-45 on sound quality, but my Epiphone is a very hard guitar to learn on and that’s what I need, soooo one has to go and the question is which one 😩

Great quality control
I bought this as my first guitar. I was absolutely convinced, after a bit of research, that the reason I was having trouble was because the action was too high. I looked up online and saw that yamahas often sit at about 2.8-3.2mm on the 6th string out of the box. So I bought specialized ruler and a truss rod wrench to see if I could bring it to the recommended 2.4mm. Turns out I just need to practice more. The strings are literally at perfect hight with no adjusting.

Well-Built Acoustic Guitar with Excellent Tone for Beginners
The Yamaha FG800J is a well-constructed acoustic guitar that delivers impressive sound quality and reliability at this price point. The tone is clear and balanced, with good projection, making it suitable for both practice and casual performance. Fit and finish are excellent, reflecting Yamaha’s consistent build standards. The neck profile is comfortable, allowing smooth playability and reduced hand fatigue during extended practice sessions. Tuning stability is solid, and the instrument feels durable and dependable. Overall, this guitar offers outstanding value for beginners and intermediate players seeking a dependable, great-sounding acoustic instrument from a trusted brand. Highly recommended.

Great value guitar for the beginner to intermediate
Was looking for a cheaper guitar to bring around for fun. This guitar has a great tone and resonance, providing a warm and full sound with some brightness that doesn't sound tinny. I still have the strings it came with, but it will sound even better with higher quality strings. It feels well built. The tuning pegs are acceptable but may need to be tightened or loosened to help with tuning stability and precision. I included a brief recording but be aware the mic on my phone is picking up more mids than highs. With that being said, this is a great guitar for the beginner to early intermediate stage. It is a lot of value for the price. If you're looking for a guitar to learn on, or just want to bring it around like myself, this is an absolute yes.

It’s a good acoustic guitar
Beautiful and the sound is excellent for a beginner guitar. Come with a good set up but E and B string are closer to the guitar arm. Not a big deal. If I went back in time would’ve bought it again.

Good price , great beginners guitar
This is the 2 nd guitar I bought this month . Both from Amazon and both Yamahas . I just started beginners guitar lessons and bought the classical guitar in error (nylon strings and a little bit bigger of a neck ) It plays nice however I have small hands and was struggling learning the different chords . So I did some research and saw that this guitar had steel strings and was smaller . It is perfect . So happy I ordered this one. Going to keep the classical too as they are both nice In the pic the classical is not on a stand
