A truly classic. We are fortunate Dover reprint this magnific book.The quality of the edition is very good. Excelent book of probaility and statistics, especially for any kind of enginieer.

Much more than an outstanding text on probability and statistics (P&S) in civil engineering practice, it is an amazing work on civil engineering epistemology, including risk and uncertainty, that has no equal in my experience. Reading it through without necessarily focusing on the math details still rewards the reader with fundamental and valuable discussions for conceptual understandings of P&S, risk and uncertainty, including their role in engineering judgment and decision making under uncertainty. Many conceptual and mathematical insights are included in the Illustrations, and Problems, which should not be missed. As subject experts and inspiring engineering teachers, Benjamin & Cornell wrote what is IMO the single best book on “Probability, Statistics, and Decision for Civil Engineers.”

A fine reference book for a great price, but it is my second go-to statistics book. If you are looking to teach yourself probability and statistics, I found it much easier to sit down and plow through the more compact work by Ang and Tang, Probability Concepts in Engineering Planning and Design, Vol 1.
