GOING GREEN USING DIATOMACEOUS EARTH HOW-TO TIPS: An Easy Guide Book Using A Safer Alternative, Natural Silica Mineral, Food Grade Insecticide: Practical consumer tips, recipes, and methods

I purchased some DE recently (in last year) and have used it for many purposes written about in this book.It wouldn't hardly be possible for her to list every parasite, pathogen, bacteria, virus and whatever else in one book, however there s enough information in this book for a "rational" thinking human to grab the ball and run with it. I have used it for ground hornets, bugs on the apple trees and a plumb tree, dust mites and many ants.Ants take about 10 minutes before there isn't a movement. I have also used it for a parasite cleanse as I grew up on a farm with chickens, dogs, cats and cows. This is such an incredible product when one considers you can mix it with water and spray it from a hose fitting (for that purpose) and not have to breath the powder, which is not a good idea without a dust mask. My apple trees have never looked this good this time of year. If I see bugs on the tree I mix up another batch at a cost of very few pennies and spray the tree down. When it dries there is a white film on many leaves and apples. ----- no bugs ----- zero --- zilch....... Isn't that kewl to be able to spray something that dehydrates the bugs without worrying about getting it on you???I suspect main stream will be fussing a lot when the word truly gets around.

Starts of with describing what DE is, the 2 types (you want food-grade DE for the uses here; the other type is for swimming pool filters only).--they are not the same.Chapters cover uses in the garden (nontoxic insecticide, soil improvement thru holding water and providing micronutrients), with pets (insecticide on skin, kills intestinal parasites, micronutrients improve coat), food storage from home to warehouses to granaries!, uses on the farm, etc. Also precautions for handling: eye & simple dust mask (N-95 for "nuisance dust" is plenty), wash off skin to prevent drying out.I'm reading the whole book and feel like i just read what i'm reading now. On the other hand, you could look at as each chapter being self-contained, not relying on other chapters.One chapter covers tools for application (hand-held, puff sprayers to crop dusting airplanes and electrostatic sprayers!)It's well written and seems to be well researched. A boon for gardeners, food storage, nontoxic insecticide, source of micronutrients.

Decent book, has a lot of uses I was unaware of. I believe it needs to be updated to include the new “food grade” combos they sell now. I was unable to find 100% DE anywhere (we have 4 feed stores available in our town). They all had “food grade” DE, but most include calcium betonite (clay). But this book says only 100% should be used. However the bags all claim “food grade”. So I am left feeling confused and am still not comfortable using what I’ve found in the ways I would like.

I am only about a quarter of the way through this book and I LOVE IT, and am LEARNING SO MUCH from it! The author has done a fabulous job of breaking the information down in the chapters so you can skip around, if you wish, and only read what is pertinent to you right off the bat, but I want to know EVERYTHING, so I started at the beginning. I am amazed at the amount of information about diatomaceous earth, the differences in FOOD GRADE and NON-FOOD GRADE, and have already used some food grade DE with a distributor (both purchased on Amazon). Hubby and I were both absolutely amazed at how quickly it worked! Tui Rose, the author, explains HOW it works on pests to rid your home of them also. I can hardly wait to read more of this book when I get a chance!

I honestly didn't realize that DE was working until it dawned on me that it was July and I only used my allergy medicine 2/4 times this summer. By July I'm using this medication at least every other day. I just know I was thinking DE didn't work until I started to realize that my allergies was no longer a huge problem. I'm sold. I'm doing the 90 detox and on day 30. Look forward to what's next. Honestly the lessening of allergy symptoms alone is good enough for me.

I like the idea that food grade diotomacious earth is child safe and animal safe yet deadly to all bugs that come in contact with it! But, after several applications, I still have many squash bugs that are killing my squash!! I know they are hard to get rid of, but I am very disappointed that they still thrive! Yeah, I guess they will eventually die of old age if the treatment doesn't work!

Diatomaceous Earth in food quality is definitely a subject we need to learn more about.The tips in this book are worth the price of this little book.I intend to use it as instructed in my garden this year as well as in the house.It seems to be effective against flies. The smaller insects avoid it.I am also using it around my cats as this is the season as spring and summer arrive.A liberal amount in the litter boxes has shown a little bit of a result already.I would like to see more merchants carrying this book and the Earth locally.Be careful because there are two different types. One is for swimming pool filters. The other is for around animals like your pets. Find "food quality" on the labels.The book goes into how much to mix and how to mix it. That is what makes the book worthwhile.

LOTS of really good information, and very well documented. The author was extremely meticulous in research and citations. I knocked it by one star simply because I AM a grammar queen, and the grammar issues really interfered with my reading. (Commas and semi-colons and linking words are like road signs, helping to guide the reader's comprehension. When misused, it's about like trying to follow a new highway route through Oregon.)But the content is really good, and I highly recommend this book. If ever it is re-published, I do advise the author to invest in a trained editor. (Or, that failing, invest in the Strunk & White ELEMENTS OF STYLE book... hard-copy.)

Didn't know anything about this wondrous powder till I came across this book. Since then I have along with my pets,have been using this powder and the difference it makes,especially one of my dogs,who usually sticks up his food and now doesn't . It's a very informative book.

Bought this book because I bought the powder for treating feather mites on my cob and wanted to know what else it could be used for. The book is very informative and I would recommend it.

All good as expected

This was very informative for the use of Diatomaceous Earth. Have started using some recommendations and will use more as time goes by.

Information is great however I am still not sold on product.
