Great ladder for elderly
Just got within the past two hours so this review has the caveat that I haven't actually used it "in battle"; however, I did check it out thoroughly and used it within the home to verify I understood how the various pieces worked. I'm impressed. It's very steady, solidly built and has some great safety features. The ladder was purchased because the multi-use A-frame ladder I have was getting too heavy and cumbersome for me to set up, plus to reach the top most requirements it had to be totally opened and then supported against the wall. I just didn't feel safe using this method. Just having passed age 79, but in still good physical shape, I needed something to reach our smoke alarms and ductless heating units to clean the filters, in rooms where we have a vaulted ceilings. Same for hanging lights over our entry way that can't be easily reached. It seemed unrealistic to call a general handyman to come every time we had to change a light bulb or battery, especially since I've been my own handyman for decades. So I researched ladders that met my needs and purchased this one and upon taking it on a few quick test runs was so excited about it, had to get the review done. Should anything change, I'll update my review, but right now am ecstatic about this purchase.

It's a really good ladder
I'm short and was attempting to clean my gutters. I had borrowed my neighbor's extension ladder. I could get it extended, but shortening it was a pain the rear. So I found this much lighter weight 10-foot tall folding step ladder. At first, I couldn't get the extension bar to lock in. It took many tries contacting their Germany company and getting in touch with the US partner to finally get someone to respond. They sent me a new tray, which has the extension portion attached to it. When I removed the old one, I discovered that the clicking-in part was on backwards on one side of the old one. The new one is correct and locks in fine. The height is wonderful. It is easy to carry and extend. It could be steadier, but that might be difficult for such a tall step ladder.I love that other "feet" can be purchased and attached -- the wider ones for better stability in the grass. All in all, I'm glad I spent the money for this ladder. It works for me!

It is light and good quality. I recommended it.
As I mentioned, I am satisfied with the product, but it was damage in transit. the plastic legs were damaged.

Solid and well constructed. A touch finicky to open and close.
This is a terrific ladder, rock solid with nice wide steps and well designed. Its a touch finicky to open and close, which requires the pressing of a large button to release a catch at the top of the ladder. Sometimes I have to press to button two or three times to achieve a result and it doesn't always completely release even when I do that which results in my having to help it open up. Otherwise a very nice product.

Best ladder for tall ceilings
Bought a new house with 11 foot ceilings. Needed to install 6 ceiling fans and needed a good sturdy ladder. The price was more than I thought reasonable, but I wouldn't trade the ladder for any other now. The company makes a lower cost ladder, but this ladder had wider steps and seemed safer. I decided a fall and a trip to the hospital would cost more than buying the safest ladder. So after justifying the price in my head, I bought the big ladder. Standing on the top step feels safe because you can grab the extended handle for support. Remember, always keep three points of contact on a ladder.

Damaged, missing parts, and poor customer service
I needed a tall ladder to reach my living room ceiling fans and smoke detectors, and my outside house gutters. The first time I ordered this ladder ($388, $417 with tax) it got stuck somewhere in Illinois. After waiting nearly two weeks, Amazon refunded my money without my having to initiate the refund.Second order of this ladder arrived within two days. After unpacking the ladder, I noticed one of the steps was damaged and it was missing three parts. I could live with the damaged step (sort of) but the missing parts, I wanted. After all, the parts were supposed to come standard with the L100 model. Contacted Hailo customer support as per suggestion from Amazon. That experience was pointless. The only communication I received from Hailo was “we forwarded your email to our colleagues at Hailo US. They will contact you shortly” with “shortly” being the operative word here. After waiting 7 business days to hear anything, even a simple courtesy acknowledgment of receiving my email, I gave up. No support or communication at all from Hailo US. So, Hailo US - 1; Customer - 0. Hailo US wins! All I can say is, Buyer Beware with this brand. Don’t expect any help from their US dealer or from Hailo in Germany, especially over $20 worth of missing parts. What can I say? Too bad for me.The ladder itself was tall enough for my needs, but its stability—even with the top step locked in place—felt like it could easily tip over if I shifted my 185 pounds just a little bit too much to one side. Hard to judge that stability from just looking at pictures of the ladder. Plus, the "Easy Clix" feet, while great in concept, in practice they were not at all easy to remove with the red clip. Two of the replaceable feet required wide-mouth pliers to remove. When I finally was able to remove the out-of-the-box feet (which I foolishly did so over my living room carpet) to install their optional white rubber “Living” feet for indoor flooring, small aluminum shavings came out of each leg tube. Those shavings were very sharp; dangerous.Bottomline: There are better quality ladders out there, just not this one. I decided to drive 55 miles to a store that sold the Cosco 8 foot signature series ladder. It has the height and wide steps that I need. But, more importantly, its functional design and quality was better, with exceptional stability, even near the top, and leaning to the side just a bit. It’s also lighter weight, has a convenient ladder handle for easier carrying, and it’s much more competitively priced. I am now in the process of selling the Hailo L100 and buying the Cosco ladder. Lesson learned.

Love it!!
Very easy to carry around in one arm, even for people who are not very strong. Steady. I get lots of use out of it.
