Mine looks different, but still a great heater!
I had been shopping for an affordable garage heater for some time, and I decided that this heater fit the bill. [...] Although I was confused by the substitution, I was happy with the price difference and once the heater arrived, I was unable to find any differences between the Oullet model I received and this Dimplex model that I ordered, other than the color. The pictures and specs all appear to be exactly the same. Since it's in my garage and being a Buckeye fan I like anything scarlet, I was happy with the red color and decided to keep and install the heater. Most reviews I've read on both models complain about the noise level. Well, when I removed the heater from the box it came in, I blew on the fan to see if it rattled or anything, and noticed that one of the blades clipped the electric motor while turning. I simply removed the metal cage, bent the offending blade ever so slightly so it no longer contacted the motor, and re-installed the cage. Easy, but definitely something worth checking before you install it. This heater requires a 220v outlet (see pictures of what the plug looks like) and since I did not have one in my garage already, I had to install one which I'd never done before. I needed 50 feet of wire, a dual pole 20 amp breaker, various pieces of conduit, a receptacle and a couple of junction boxes. I got pretty fancy with the receptacle (added a weatherproof plate over the receptacle, etc) and total cost to wire up the new outlet was about $70. You can certainly do it cheaper than I did, but be advised if you need a 220v outlet, it will add to the cost of installing this heater. I hung the heater on the wall using the included bracket, but it came with no screws to attach it to the wall. I went to the hardware store and bought two lag screws, and screwed it right into a stud. VERY sturdy installation, I could probably hang on the bracket if I wanted to. This heater really pushes a ton of warm air. It is a bit noisy, but the fan blows really hard so I can't really see how it could be any quieter and push as much air as it does. It has a nice dial-type thermostat on the back. It doesn't have a certain temperature that you can set it to, but you can just turn it on until it's as warm as you want it in the garage, then twist the dial until it clicks off. Then, it will click back on and regulate the temperature. I haven't tested it yet on a really cold day to see how long it takes to raise the temp, but I can tell you that with as much air as it moves, I'm confident it will work great. I'll update this review once I try it in really cold weather. Overall, I'm very satisfied, but just be advised, if the price drops about $50 and the heater ships from Northern Tool, there's a good chance you'll receive the red Oullet model. But it's a great heater and you'll save $50, so for me it was a win-win!

Awesome Shop Heater in a Compact Form
I purchased this heater as it is one of the few 220-Volt heaters that only requires a 20 amp circuit. Additionally, the heater came pre-terminated with a NEMA 6-20 plug. The unit is very compact at less than 11" x 10" x 11" cubed not including the buffer space required for installation. I found this heater put out so much heat and circulated the air in my shop (20' x 20') that I often had to turn the heater off in mild temperatures, such as 50 degrees Fahrenheit. Thermostat adjusts from 45 degrees to 77 degrees Fahrenheit. While unfortunately made in China, the heater fan moves a very considerable amount of air where you cannot put anything easily damaged by heat, such as plastic, within five feet in front of the unit. You can use the heater with the wall mount bracket or on a bench top, as the bottom and top of the heater never get dangerously hot, when you allow the heater to cycle itself off afterwards, where it operates as a fan only as it cools down. As a bonus side effect, when saw dust settles on top of the heater, it never burns or smokes. The first unit I received was very loud, where it had a rattle. At first I thought this might be normal, judged by other views. However, I contacted Dimplex support, who emailed me back two business days later stating that this was not normal. They suggested I exchange it through Amazon, which I did. The second unit I received runs perfectly and is extremely quiet for a heater of its magnitude. The rattle appears to be excessive vibration caused by the fan bearing, where you can observe a wobble. The new unit does not exhibit this behavior. See the customer images for a front and rear comparison of the Dimplex DGWH4031 along with the supplied power cable. The mounting bracket, while included, is not pictured. Finally, setup is a breeze and the heater burn in is extremely short, putting out very little odor. With an stainless steel element and all steel construction, this might be the best shop heater you can buy dollar for dollar.

If you get a good one, they're a great little shop heater.
I just bought my third Dimplex heater. I want to add my experiences to all the others here. I bought my first one about 10 years ago, and it has performed well, heating my 1000+ sq ft insulated shop. I keep it at 55 degrees, and boost the temp as needed. I have occasionally had to add extra heat if the outside temps are below zero. I bought a second one about five years ago as a spare. That one had a bad thermostat, I could not keep it at a set temperature, so for me it was basically either on or off. Unfortunately I did not return it in time, so I use it in another building when I am there to operate it manually. The fan on the original 10 y.o. heater started making bad noises recently -- ready to go out, so I took my chances and bought another. The third one is doing fine. So after reading many of the reviews, my opinion is that, rather that excersise good testing and quality control in the factory, Dimplex instead sends them all out and the customer does the quality control by returning the ones that don't work well. This is not the best way to run a business, but I think it keeps the price low. I like the price. I would buy another if needed, with the idea that I would test it well upon receiving it. I haven't seen any safety issues on the three I've had. I like the size. I like the fact it has a cord and plug. I like the durable element. My only complaint is that they are pretty noisy, but OK for a shop.

Great bang for the buck
I've had this heater for about 2 months now so I cannot comment on durability, but will update the review if anything changes. I am using this in a extended 3 car garage with 12 foot ceilings, drywall ceilings and walls, and I insulated my garage doors with a kit from HD. The heater is plugged into a 240 outlet for my electric car that I bought a converter plug for from Amazon, I believe it's a welding plug converter and it works great. This little heater really has a good bang for the buck! In the dead of winter with Temps below freezing this can heat my large garage to around 60 degrees within 2-3 hours and keep it there. Some reviewers have commented the heater makes it hotter in their garage then inside, they must have smaller garages! I have 2 thermometers in my garage, one in front one in back, when this heater is on full blast those will read between 60-65 all day when the Temps are under 30 degrees. When the outside temp creeps over 40 this has gotten the garage closer to 70. Overall it does an amazing job for a very low price compared to other heaters out there. Noise wise I have noticed it is a little rattling the first 2 or so minutes but it levels out and is pretty quiet after that, much quieter than torpedo heaters. I recommend it for the weekend warrior like me.

The right unit for my 575 sq ft garage
I am using this heater in a 575 sq ft garage with a solid core garage door and 2 side doors. This garage shares 1 wall with the main house. I am only using the unit when working in the garage or when the outside temperatures reach the teens or lower for extended periods in order to keep my laundry drainage pipe from freezing at the P trap which has happened twice before. This unit was able to heat my garage from 25 degrees to around 60 degrees in about 45 minutes. The adjustable thermostat does not have actual temperature settings and is just a simple rheostat which increases or decreases the heat shut off setting. As others have commented, the fan blades do seem to rattle against the interior and at some point I will do has some have recommended to adjust them when disconnected from power to try to quiet the unit down. It's not so loud as to be super annoying but something I definitely loud enough that I intend to address. The unit comes with a ceiling/wall mount that was fairly easy for me to screw in to a ceiling joist through drywall. However, the corner hole beneath the angle support can be tricky to get to even with using my DeWalt compact impact driver DEWALT DC825KA 18-Volt Compact Impact Driver . Other than the fact that this gives me a year round work area to use, I was also interested in the fact that this is an electric heat element and not gas (open flame). This allows me to use aerosol paints, cleaners and lubricants with less of a fire hazard. The unit that arrived looked just like the picture (beige color, boxy looking unit). Happy with the unit and believe it is built well enough to get many serviceable years from it.

Loud rattley machine
Bought this in late July to install in our new greenhouse. Live in south Texas so didn’t need heat at that time. Upon turning it on it made the loudest rattle - Either from the fan or shaft inside the unit. Since it was past amazon 30 day Return period called manufacturer to claim warranty. Here it is going on November and Dimplex cannot get a new unit to us after repeated promises. Had to send power cord and label back to CANADA for them to ok claim. After numerous calls they either do not call back after They will look into it after explaining things again To yet another individual or They promise it’ll leave the warehouse and you’ll have by Friday. Nope! Now it’s back ordered until sometime in November. So now it’s a $130 piece of useless machinery Gave em a 5 star for noise Level rating since it is excellent at making noise

Powerful Little Heater Review
This item is a great heater, small package-- lot's of heat. My first unit was damaged in shipping. Once I received the second unit, I was disappointed that it made more noise than the damaged unit. Everything in this unit shakes, rattles and irrates the customer. However, I disassembled mine, tightened every joint, reassembled-- and now it is completely quiet. There is only a whisper of air from the fan, but this is how it should be. I'd rate this unit a 5 of 5 for heating, but I wasn't happy that I needed to re-engineer a new, out of the box product, and that is the reason for my 3 of 5 rating.

Works great!
So far so good. This heater worked great. I waited to review this heater until we had used it for one full winter. We used it to keep our 600 sq ft garage at a consistent temp during the winter months in Colorado, mainly to keep our pipes from freezing. We hung it on the ceiling and it worked perfectly. We have a thermometer in our garage and the temp stayed just where we wanted the entire winter. User friendly and is fairly quiet. Just make sure you have the correct outlet. A friend of ours, who lives in Montana has the same exact heater in his garage and it has been working great for 5 winters. This April his started making a loud noise. Found out, it just needed a much-needed cleaning (dusty) and a little grease. So maybe after each winter, take a look and blow off the dust. Overall, we are happy with this purchase and would recommend giving it a try.

Great little heater!
I bought this a month ago. Also bought a 20 amp power outlet and had an electrician install everything as I wasn't sure how to do it. The unit itself comes ready to be plugged in. It's a little heater and I wasn't sure how great a job it would do. My garage is 15' x 30'. Once it was installed, I put it at the lowest setting. I just didn't want the garage freezing. The heater has maintained the temperature above freezing, even when the temperature outside was -22 Celsius (with a wind chill of -30 Celsius. I could keep the garage warmer by simply turning the dial up (and I tried that and it works!!), but I don't want to waste electricity -- just want to keep the garage from freezing and feeling damp. Great heater!! Very pleased with this purchase.

Wattage, power line, and circuit breaker
As far as the heater is concerned it looks like it will do the job nicely. I have a single car garage (250 sq. feet) and although it has not been extremely cold (about 5 C.) it heats up the garage nicely within a 1/2 hr, I purchased this heater because it is rated at 20 amps and has a 240 volt plug, 20 amps, I purchased this house a few months ago and saw that the previous owner had installed a 20 amp line from the circuit breaker panel. Here is what I think the issue is here. At 4000 watts the heater is drawing about 16.7 amps. This about 83 percent of the capacity of the line and the circuit breaker. 80 percent is the maximum safe load so this heater is marginal safe on a 20 amp circuit. I don't know how companies can get away with this. I've seen quite a few heaters advertised and sold as 20 amp heaters and have a 20 amp plug but I really question how they can say it meets code.

Good heater / thermostat could be more accurate
I spent decent amount of time choosing a proper garage heater. The ceiling options din't work in my situation cause I have suspended ceilings and also wanted a heat source pointing towards the garage door. This one does a good job heating up my garage quickly after opening the garage door. 4k watts is more than enough for my insulated garage of 280 sq ft. (I used 12 watts per sq.ft + extra just in case). It can be mounted to the wall or the ceiling which I really like. It also comes with mounting screws for wooded studs. On a cold start it does take 1-2 minutes to warm up to full heat. One of the disadvantages is the theromostat. I am not sure how accurate it is. Also it is impossible to set specific temperature, you will have to heat your room to the desired level and then dial it down until it "clicks" to maintain that temperature. Also not sure how the thermostat will behave when the power comes back after an outage. Overall, it keeps the necessary temperature so far. Overall, I am satisfied, good value for the price.

Noisy asf!!
Seems to work well but so noisy I can hear it from my house while it’s running in the garage. It’s the sheer volume of noise that dropped the overall rating…a shame!
