Perfect Redundancy for Lightroom Photos
My third VR. Started with a VR, moved to a VR2, and now upgraded to a VR2 with 12TB. Use it in RAID 1 as storage for my Lightroom photos. USB 3 connectivity is more than adequate. The redundancy provides peace of mind that my photos will be safe and sound. (Of course I do back them up twice a year.) The new VR2, with two 6TB drives, runs a bit warmer and invokes the cooling fan more than I was accustomed to hearing. My practice was to leave the VR2 on, so I checked with CalDigit and they allowed that turn it off when not in use was acceptable if not preferred. This makes it quieter in the vicinity of the photo editing area which is adjacent to my hi-fi listening area. All is well in retirement land.

Configuration Software and support is no longer available through the manufacturer, buyer beware
In the many years that I have been an Amazon customer, I rarely write write poor product reviews; maybe two in the last 20 years, after purchasing hundreds (probably over a thousand) of items through Amazon.I think a note needs to be added to the seller information that these units are no longer supported by the manufacturer. It is really a shame, because when I removed the unit from the product box (which came with the lid torn) I removed the unit, and I was actually impressed with how well built the drive actually was. The construction is what you would expect for a table top RAID drive bank, solid/robust, etc. Then came the huge disappointment at the unavailability of the configuration software to configure the unit.I have owned a couple of RAID Drives and had to be something wrong with this one, or someone had to have deleted the configuration software off the drive, or forget to put it on there. Regardless, I don't have hours to spend trying to figure out how to get a brand new unit working.Hope this review helps.

Do not buy, no longer supported by Man.
Very upset that the product listing did not inform me that the manufacturer no longer supports this product. I finally found the software to control the RAID. It wouldn't load the drives. Windows 10 not supported. I wouldn't buy unless its for an older system.
