When I started using the R5C and CF Express cards I searched for a good reader that could do SD and CFExpress. I bought the model from ProGrade. Had good reviews and from a good company. My Windows 10/11 machine would show errors and say it was not installed properly. I always had to eject the whole reader and not just the card in the OS. It always worked but made me nervous about what was going on. ProGrade was helpful and RMA'd the reader and gave me a new one. Same problem. Must be some conflict with my specific hardware/drivers. I needed a second reader and decided to go with this Lexar model. I think it is superior, nice weight and build quality, sit solidly on the desk. All the errors and issues with the other reader did not happen with the Lexar. I don't like the LED light that stays on when not in use, but other than that it has fast speeds and no issues.

As noted by others, "eject" is greyed out for the CFExpress slot. However, by default in Windows it does appear the media is mounted with write caching disabled so that it can be removed without ejecting as long as you're not in the middle of writing to it. You can confirm this in Computer Management in the Storage section by looking in the properties of the drive.Copying files works fine and provides comparable speeds to other readers I have.Originally I had given this 3 stars, but have upgraded it to 4 stars after confirming I don't get errors ejecting media without safely removing it first.

Works great straight out of the box—fast and reliable. I primarily use it to read Compact Flash and SD cards from my cameras, eliminating the need to connect the cameras directly to my laptop. There was no software or drivers to install, and if any were required, the setup happened seamlessly in the background. So far, so good!

Works as advertised. I use it mainly to transfer raw photos, 4K video or uncompressed audio onto my PCs. Fast, reliable and inexpensive. Couldn't ask for much more.

I purchased this to read the CFExpress XQD card from mhy Nikon. It read the SD card fine, but could not read the XQD card. Called Lexar. Explained the issue. The rep seemed totally disinterested. I asked what could be done. He said maybe a compatibility issue. Could not verify that since I only have the one XQD card and the one reader. I asked about a warranty replacement. He said it would involve a lot of paperwork and questions, and just return it ti Amazon. VERY DISSAPOINTED in Lexar.
