Hubs Geodesic Dome Kit

Easy to work with! But it would be nice if it there were an option to use these with PVC pipe. I built a 16 foot diameter dome, it collapsed with the first storm it was in, but it was the wood that broke and not the hubs. Don't use pine or any soft wood if you can avoid it!!! Unfortunately it was the only material in my budget so I took the risk. The good news is that the hubs can be re-used when I invest in stronger wood. I really feel like PVC would be ideal and I hope they add some kind of connector, there are DIYs out there but they're all pretty awkward to make work with these hubs.

This kit was excellent. We made it for a 12 foot diameter. The most difficult thing was cutting all of the brace pieces - and that only took about 30 minutes. Negative: Making adjustments to the sections so that all of the base laid flat was time consuming and frustrating even with two people; and moving it into its final position was also cumbersome. Positive(s): high quality components supplied, easy snap together units, and strong once assembled.

Great build instructions, although on my side on the pond it required some conversions from metric to feet/inches (easy to find simple calculators online). Also, lots of supporting info and photo gallery on their website for alternative doors/openings, covering materials, uses, etc. It's a fun build project. I went overboard (causing self-induced issues/frustrations) by using PVC pipe that then requires inserting "plugs" in the pipe ends to hold the screws for the ball connectors.

LOVE this system. We had our 4500mm dome up in an afternoon. It took longer to cut and stain the sticks than it did to assemble the dome. Instructions are easy to follow and the calculations are done for you using the online calculator. We are using as a duck house and are almost done covering all the triangles with hardware cloth. Can't wait for the finished piece!

Pretty easy we built this dome in about five hours with three people. A little bigger than they recommend it’s 18 feet in diameter I would consider the hubs more of a toy than serious building product

These HUBS are horrible! Do not buy them with the intention of building anything over 4 feet tall. I wanted to build a 14’ diameter green house and It was a nightmare. I’m a metal worker by trade. I also asked my brother, superintendent carpenter, for help. Spend the extra money for metal. I’m super disappointed.

The kit was good quality; stainless steel, chunky plastic, instructions were clear, etc. I used cheap 1" x 2" treated wood from Home Depot to make a dome to replace my old fruit cage, so I don't have to remove the netting this winter. Seemed a bit expensive - the wood cost less than the kit, but with an enjoyable day's work I got a 14' wide fruit cage I can stand in for less than $300. Happy.

They are not strong enough for a serious dome, for a greenhouse or a tent maybe. Don't go over a 10-12" diameter dome with small sticks.

excelente producto, nosotros estamos armando el domo de freccuencia V3, en un diámetro de 7 m, para lo cual necesitamos 1.75 kits de hubs. ha funcionado muy bien hasta ahora, resistence y practico, no es necesario estar preocupándose por el ángulo de las piezas.

Just completely brilliant. A really fun project and a nice, strong dome which we're currently making a cover for. The team were really helpful in sending us some info about how to make covers. If I had one complaint about this kit it'd be that it makes things a little TOO easy and I like a challenge =) But it's perfect for building something really cool with kids if you have 'em, or just a nice Saturday afternoon project if you like doing fun stuff. When we invite people over to our house they all marvel at the dome, and want one themselves.

Questo kit è davvero geniale. Contiene tutti i connettori necessari (ossia tutto tranne le aste che intendete usare) per costruire una cupola geodetica 2v (cercate "cupola geodetica" su Wikipedia, specificatamente il sottocapitolo "fattori d'arco"). Visto che avevamo fretta di creare un riparo volante per due pecore (i vari gazebo pronti purtroppo non reggono più di 2-3 mesi) abbiamo preso questo e dei bastoni per scope grezzi (verniciati in casa), poggiandoci sopra il telo di un gazebo (quadrato, quindi esteticamente non perfetto, ma fa ombra e protegge dalle piogge, quel che ci serviva). Abbiamo optato per questa soluzione perché solida ma leggera e facilmente smontabile/rimontabile per i vari cambi di pascolo. -- Aggiornamento 2021: Sì, è un prodotto che arriva dall'Inghilterra. C'è stato il Brexit, forse ne avete sentito parlare. Chi ora si lamenta del costo extra perché ora c'è da pagare la dogana lasciando recensioni negative al kit agisce in maniera ingiusta e fa solo la figura dell'ignorante lui.

Impressive design, easy assembly. Trying to figure out a reason to get another one because it’s such a unique piece.
