Shimano RD-M970 XTR Pulley Set (9 Speed)

The G guide pulley (has lateral play in bearing and may have holes like spokes) is installed next to the derailleur body. The tension pulley has no lateral play and has a solid body installed at the end of cage plates. Make sure the pulleys are installed so rotation is in the direction of the arrows.

These oem pulley wheels were the replacement for my older xtr 952 and 960 rear derailluers. A service tech at shimano told me these were the ones to get. They worked like a charm and were easy to replace. The guide pulley has some lateral float and is designed to offer quiet chain alignment even if your index shifting is not exact. Pulleys have direction arrows (face out when looking at rd from right side of bike) to help you figure out which one is which. I still can't believe how much they charge for these things, but I'm glad I bought shimano and amazon helped with the price. Good luck.

I had bought a set of "standard replacement" pulley's to replace a completely worn out set of pulley's on my Shimano XTR rear shifter. They ended up being a fail. These Shimano pulley's dropped right in and were perfect--of course. My advice--pay the extra cash, buy these and solve the problem once and correctly. It ends up being less expensive that way.

Not as advertised, not Dura Ace, could be XTR but not Dura Ace.

Maybe over the top, but I like how they spin easily.

Fitted to an older XTR (M952) and works well. No instructions, so not obvious which wheel should go where (different design to originals), but referenced some on-line pictures of other derailleurs. Also unsure if bearings should get any grease; put a small amount on.

These are OEM replacement pulleys. They are not noisy, have smooth operation and work good. the original pulleys lasted 5+ years of hard riding, I'm expecting these to last the same. Will buy again.
