best feature of this switch is that it can be powered from a usb port. handy to connect it to your laptop when needing to connect multiple network devices together and with no power source close by.

Can be powered of my routers USB socket so my internal network has full 1gb and this then uses the 100mb connection to my router with no extra power demands. I now run my entire household internet traffic though it so a smaller cluster would be no problem for it. Actually achieving 1gb transfers between NAS and client.May want to check your routers USB socket power output but most should provide 1mA as a minimum which is all this needs. Tp-link, Netgear, take note, this is the next step in home networking.Dropped a point for value as it only makes sense if power sockets are an issue, otherwise go with a mains powered one for much less, and for presentation as the USB cable is ridiculously short (like 3 inches long) but fixable with buying an extension cable. If the price was lower I would no longer considered mains powered ones.

These switches are great. Very small and compact. So small and light they easily velcro (using adhesive velcro pads can be bought separately) to the back of a TV, printer or similar networked item then pickup their power from the 900mA USB port found on most TVs.There is also a full UK power adaptor in the box in case you cannot use USB. My only complaint is the supplied USB cable is rather small, about 10 cm.

Seems to be doing exactly what I wanted.It's USB powered and I've been able to stick it to a blank patch on the back of the telly allowing me to have wired connections for XBox, Pi, TV and a spare socket incase I need to plug something else in at some point.Loses 1 star because the USB power lead is a little short so doesn't allow much flexibility for where you can place it.

Created a gig speed home network with 3 of these, TV Room, Home Office, and Games Room. All powered from spare USB ports on other devices, which is nice. Makes a significant improvement when streaming from my NAS box, or backing up devices over the network. They work fine with 100MB devices also.

I only had 1 network cable getting to my TV area, but I needed another connection point for the bluray player. I certainly didn't want yet another power block constantly plugged in for a "standard" 5 port switch, so this is ideal. I plug this on the USB labelled 1A on my Samsung TV, theoretically for usb hard disks. I only ever need network when the telly is on, and when we use bluray, the telly is on of course, so this network switch is only switched on and draws power when needed. perfect.

Neat little unit, no problems so far after about 10 weeks use.I have three devices connected, about 20m UTP in total, according to my USB meter it pulls ~160mA briefly during startup, 10-20mA idle, and 70-80mA with light loading (50-60Mbps).The draw for me was the USB powered capability, and sadly Edimax has missed a trick here for those who are trying to minimise their use of materials. While it's capable of being USB powered the device itself DOES NOT have a USB port, it comes with a (non-standard )15cm cylindrical DC-to-USB cable and 5V 1A wall wart (hard wired, NOT for use as a USB charger). An equivalent product from another manufacturer has the same flaw.Maybe USB-C will finally eliminate the problem of gratuitous cables and power supplies.

Cercavo uno switch ethernet con alimentazione USB da poter attaccare al mio televisore per poterci collegare un dvd e un sistema per poter vedere sky in piu stanze. Collegato alla presa usb del televisore e ha subito funzionato perfettamente. Prodotto economico ma perfetto per quello che volevo realizzare. Peccato che da diverse ricerche su Amazon questo prodotto non mi è mai comparso pur cambiando diverse chiavi di ricerca. Trovato poi mettendo una chiave di ricerca su Google e cercato poi con il codice su Amazon.

Es super pequeño y se puede alimentar por usb, aunque la clavija que se conecta al switch no es usb sino que trae un adaptador. Incluye también un cable de corriente normal por si no se quiere conectar por usb.El funcionamiento es excelente, la velolidad es gigabit si la tarjeta de red lo soporta y se nota mucho la diferencia en una red local.Estoy muy contento con él.

Tip top, passt perfekt an meine Fritz Box, war auch dafür angeschafft.
