Dear Customer, Oxford is a weave structure very similar to a plain weave and it's durable. The dog beds are 3” thick, it may take some time for the bed to regain its shape as it's vacuum-packed. Meanwhile, you'll likely notice the product has a bit of an initial smell because of the long transportation. This odor is regarded as being nontoxic in nature and usually should disappear once you have aired the item in a breezy shaded spot. Thanks!

Q: Does this bed make a crinkling sound like most water proof fabrics?

There is some noise but it's not like most waterproof fabrics. I would compare it to canvas whereas most others sound like crinkling mylar or paper. I have Great Pyrenees and they make more noise walking up to it than actually laying down lol. Side note, this bed has held up to 4 extra large dogs using it daily. Hands down best one I've bought.
