Great start point for alternative travel plans
Got this for ideas off the beaten path, and it's a great start point for planning. Details will change but the routes/destinations will still be there.

Great for students/gap year travellers!
This book is very much aimed towards students rather than the older traveller we found, although there were some places and information of interest relevant to “us oldies” who still enjoy getting around!

Good, interesting
A useful book for travel ideas. Lovely coffee table book to browse. Definitely will use for inspiration.Only criticism is I was expecting a A4 size but it was smaller. (Seen these books in stores full size)

Great for planning
Lots of options for train tours. Can fly to the start of them or Eurostar to Paris and onwards for most.

heavy and good quality print, more detail needed
This is an inspiring book, not only for ethical travellers but others who can't fly for medical reasons.slow travel is often more rewarding and you can avoid the chaotic airports of the UK.The book I received was a hard cover and full colour. The print is good quality and pages felt easy to flick through for inspiration. As for the Itineraries, I happen to have done some of the included journeys and personally they have missed out on a lot of the detail. For example they rarely include eco options for where to eat and stay on the trips, which might be one of the key reasons you would do the trip. Also I would have liked to have seen more detail and photos of the trains and methods of transport, they do include some tips on express trains but not details on class of ticket to buy or types of trains running. (for example you may want to avoid diesel trains)Finally they don't acknowledge the reality of public transport travel in many of the countries listed, no warnings on safety for females or no-go areas. Some of the stations listed on the trips are dangerous at night (in otherwise safe countries) and should be avoided, please do further research before attempting these trips especially if solo travelling.Hope you found this helpful
