Q: What size diameter are the straws? I'd like to buy silicone tips so I don't knock my teeth out.

When Put the measuring tape it is about a quarter of an inch. It is the thinner size straw.I use silicone straws instead of the metal. I find it fits tight into this cap and less spillage also the metal straws have broken/cracked other caps on me when the cups have fallen over or dropped.
