The ninth studio album by the American rock band. Band leader Billy Corgan has noted that - similar to the band's previous release, 'Oceania' (2012) - the album was the final part of the project, 'Teargarden by Kaleidyscope' (2008), due to cancellation of the project in 2018 by Corgan. Features the singles 'Being Beige', 'One and All (We Are)', 'Drum + Fife' and 'Run2me'. Review: Short but perfect - I absolutely love this album. It may be short but I think it's perfect. Nothing I don't like on it and it's a real grower. Review: fantastic as they were - I really don't know what some smashing pumpkins fans want, siamese dreams, gish, Mellon collie etc are gone, fantastic as they were, here we have a new set of songs, and I for one am delighted to still have BC and the smashing pumpkins around. We can all yearn for years gone by, but would you rather BC called it a day and all you had was their back catalogue, brilliant as it is, I for one would rather they kept producing sublime albums like this, and I get the feeling there's plenty of life left in the old dog yet, songs like being beige and one and all prove that point, I hope Billy and Co are round for a long time yet, there still nobody quite like them, so let's enjoy it while it lasts!

Short, but impressive
The Pumpkins are one of my favourite bands, but I am not going to ramble on about Mellon Collie, Siamese Dream, etc. Those were great, but in the past. Monuments is short, very short. Only nine tracks, and only one is longer than four minutes. Still, what is here is good. It is largely a guitar focused album, but there are plenty of keyboards, just not at the expense of the guitars. The vocals are good, and the general feel of the album is not as mellow as Oceania, but more varied and dare I say it interesting than Zeitgeist. There are some good thumping tracks on here (Tiberius, One and All) and the slightly less so (Being Beige, Run2me). An early standout for me though is Anise! (the exclamation mark is part of the title). Oh, and it has Tommy Lee on drums. Perhaps it is a compliment, but he doesn't dominate the music, and this doesn't sound like a Motley Crue cross over. It just fits together. I guess the weakest point is the lyrics, but then those have been lazy for years in comparison with the glory years. But this is a different era and different album. A solid album, and I am looking forward to giving it plenty of ear-time.

Excellent album!
Their best effort since Billy brought the Pumpkins back.

Shame again.
Once again this could have been a pretty good album but Mr Corgan has ruined it once more by burying it with awfully badly judged synthesiser parts. With the synths removed and the album remixed so the guitars dominate this would have made a pretty good EP as its only 30 minutes long.

Discazo!!!

Monuments to An Elegy Smashing Pumpkins
Monuments To An Elegy di nome e di fatto..
