Q: Will it work on a stock CR-10S?

Yes, with Marlin 2.0 and a firmware change. Contact TIny Machines 3D for help with this. Our firmware supports it.

Q: Can i use this with my ender 3 v1? i have upgraded to the 4.2.7 silent board, so i do have a connector on the board for a filament sensor.

If you wire it a certain way maybe, but you won't get any smart features unless you have a Big Tree Tech board. Also, you will have to change the firmware to allow you to use the LCD pin. also you will need to buy a separate connector to break out the said pin.

Q: does it detect the width?

No, it doesn't detect width (though that would be nice). It works with a pulley and wheel inside putting pressure on the filament. As the stepper motor moves the filament, the filament moves the wheel and it senses this motion.
