Sampler (Special Edition - One Page From Every Single Angie Coloring Book!) (Angie Grace)

This gives a very good idea of what is available
While some of the pages weren't much to color there were plenty that were. I wanted to gauge how intricate the various books were and how small the design lines. I'm getting up there and the books for large markers are much easier for me to color.I'll probably buy all her large print style design books. I am able to color the smaller lines but it's harder and not as soothing as coloring should be for me.

Sampler is a great concept, didn't work for me, but may help other discover more great coloring books.....
This was not for me. I didn't really like this very much. I am NOT saying that this is a bad coloring book. This is a sampler that shows the different types of books that she has out. I have seen her books on here but I have not been drawn to them and I thought that this sampler would help me to decide if i wanted to try one of the books. The concept of this book is to have a page from each of her books. There are a few that I liked but there are more that I wasn't feeling but in a weird way I kinda liked that about this book. It was great to have a sampler to let me know that this particular line of books just isn't for me. It is nice, there are some great pictures to color but they just aren't for me but they may be the exact thing for someone else. I think more companies need to do this because it would make it easier to discover if you like a company or not....So while this wasn't for me, I still think that this is a great book for other people! Give it a try and you may discover you like Angie Grace.

Quality Product as Usual For an idea of how beautifully these images are colored
Quality Product as UsualFor an idea of how beautifully these images are colored, and the consistent quality of the books put out by Angie Grace, visit her website: www.angiegrace.com & also look at the Facebook Group 'Color with Angie Grace'. Angie herself posts pages she's colored & her current WIP to the group at least 2x/wk, and the work you see here done by members is inspiring and will absolutely confirm why you SHOULD order this & other Angie Grace books. Note that she publishes & prints exclusively through Amazon, so you won't find her books as B&N, BAM, Michael's, Hobby Lobby, etc.My only complaint is that I wish the pages were of a slightly heavier paper stock. Images are one sided & the paper used in the book is sufficient enough to hold markers such as Bic Mark-Its, Sharpies, Prismacolor, Coptic & Crayola. Save yourself a facepalm though & be sure to put a blank sheet being the page you color with marker, as there will be some slight bleed through.

A tasting of what Angie Grace has to offer...and a great price!!!
I absolutely love this book and I think it's essential if you've ever wanted see what Angie Grace is all about. You get one page from each of her books, including pages from her Crayons and Wide Tipped Markers editions. Plus the price is almost half of a regular Grace book, which is an awesome deal and with that you can really see which full edition is right for you. I've been able to make some very informed choices from her collection by buying the Sampler. Each page contains all of her beautifully articulated designs, some which include flowers, others with flowing tubes and still other with sharper shapes. It's a bit of all her work so it runs the gamut. What to expect:Single-sided pages, non perforated.Lots of varietyThe paper weight is more on the medium side, but this doesn't present a problem with crayons and use a piece of paper behind your work with markers. Not the regular overall size for a Grace book, but the picture size is the same. As you can see in the photos space is used below the illustration to identify the book the page is from.

Poor paper and printing quality. Not a good 1st impression for the series.
Paper quality, which I have found is crucial when working with markers, is no better than copy paper. This was among the absolute worst of the worst in regards to paper. While it is a great idea to do a "sampler" to give people an idea of what is in each of a large selection of books (hence the 2 stars for effort),1/3 of each page was wasted with gigantic letters spelling out the name of the book it came from. This making the design much smaller (I assume) than what is in the original source. Some of the designs were interesting but the printing quality was crappy. No crisp clean lines, more pixelated-lile.Going back to the paper quality, were that better, there are a few books I may have been interested in purchasing had the paper & printing quality been better. It felt more like a cheap kids coloring book. A bad one.(I still have some of my coloring books from 40+yrs ago & those were printed much cleaner, tho on worse paper).(The following is a more generalized opinion of many books, including this one)Not everyone uses pencils or crayons. A lot of people use pricey markers or paint. Which requires a higher quality paper. 1st thing I do when receiving/perusing an adult coloring book is to feel the paper quality. If that is too thin, all I see in my head is ink bleeding everywhere & paper ripping if "double dipping" to create different colors. At that point, the designs are of no consequence.I really wish these books were sorted by best mediums for the different tools utilized. Too many reviews focus on the pretty picture. You have to really read the questions (if allowed), & search thru the reviews to find any mention of paper quality. Even then, the very few mentions can be contradictory. All of this requires entirely too much time wasted researching not just what's available on the product page, but sometimes the publisher to find out if they churn out cheap books or if they take pride in their product.Any "artist" should take care who they allow to print their work. I gave up on trying to keep track of artists who utilize bad publishers as the list was entirely too long. It's easier to keep up with my dozen or so publishers/artists which provide a quality product.I urge people who are just entering this form of hobby/craft/therapy to do your research prior to deciding which books to purchase. I have over a dozen, all of which were 4+☆'s, that are gathering dust on my book shelf, most not even worthy of donation.

Excited to find a sampler because I couldn't choose!
Obsessive artist here! I'm creating daily and started to run low on my canvas lot just for doodling, so this was a perfect solution. I found Angie's publications a few weeks ago while looking for new sharpies and I was instantly fascinated. I wasnt ready to dive into a $10+ coloring book so when I passed this item, it was a "1 click buy"! I couldn't decide which image I wanted to do, so I started on the first page. It is full of life; I'm very glad I did! Thank you Angie Grace. I look forward to more time scribbling in my lap rather than at my easel.

Remember, it is a book of samples.
As I've not tried Angie's books before, and I'm new to the colouring craze, this seemed a good place to start. The pictures are on one side of the paper only which encouraged me to try out the fine liners I had purchased but won't use in double sided colouring books as they do go through, however careful you are. In this book I can see one or two points of soaked through colour where I have lingered too long with a fine liner! One sided pictures also means they are all on the comfortable colouring side- but also that you get half as many! The early pages are detailed, perhaps too much so for pencil crayons, but then there are simpler pages designed for wider felt tipped pens and crayons, which are fine too. The pages which disappointed me, and there are quite a few, are the 'Journal' pages, which have a square of colouring in the top left hand corner and then the rest of the page is ruled for writing. I can see how these can have a use - nice for any informal or children's letters perhaps, as well as the obvious journal intention, but for me there are too many of these in this book, if it has just been bought for colouring. The cover is a very floppy paperback so you do need to sit at a table or use a board. This will definitely be my fine liner detailed, daytime book!

Get a feel for Angie's work
Some lovely pieces to colour but be warned there's a lot of religious imagery which might not be your bag. This sampler book is a great idea to get a feel for Angie's style, many pages are actually a tiny square to colour with lines for notes (why?!). I was disappointed that my Sharpies bled through the paper so badly they coloured the next page on, but Staedtler ones didn't at all. Best put a sheet of scrap behind the page you're working on!

good idea for trying out her deisgns
I enjoyed trying the different designs but I was slightly disappointed with the quality of the paper compared with say Johanna Basford - but may be I was expecting too much - these are intricate designs if a bit large - I personally prefer more intricate but still a pleasure to colour in. Being a softer type of material it is easier to fold the book over on your lap to concentrate on the design.

Glad I took it on holiday.
Bought this to take on caravan holiday. Glad I did, rained very day so needed something to while away the time. Used pencils for mine, very relaxing and calming, lots to colour.....don't see the need for the journal pages though....(small pic to colour then lots of lines for your own notes) guess some people might like to write notes in there. In general, fun to have as an adult.

A colouring book with a difference.
At last a colouring book for adults. Relaxing and satisfying, it's a bit like doing a jigsaw puzzle, you keep thinking 'I will just do a little bit more before I get on with something else'. It's printed on good quality paper which stops felt tips bleeding.
