Clear and Concise Principles
Weller has an amazing ability to distill research and practice down into short descriptions/graphics that convey a great deal of wisdom about teaching and learning. In particular, I found his section on 'Managing Learning' very helpful. This is one of the few English language teaching books that directly explains the critically important theory of cognitive load. Weller's book, itself, is a great reminder of how teachers and trainers can simply to make complex ideas more accessible.

Great framework for thinking about classroom management
This book provides a very valuable framework for thinking about what classroom management is - as well as an important explanation at the beginning about what it isn't. David Weller explains clearly seven core factors that help students pay attention and want to learn, and - importantly - shows the relationships between them too, making it easier to weave them together into a plan that works for the needs of any teacher's own particular students. As a teacher trainer, I've actually used the seven-level framework from this book as the foundation of a training course about classroom management. David's ideas made structuring the course much easier.

Tackles the issues teachers care about most
Another excellent book from Dave Weller dealing with the issues teachers care about most. Dave gives practical tips and ideas on how to differentiate, create routines, manage behavior, scaffold and create connection. My favorite chapters are the ones on differentiation and interaction patterns. These include practical strategies built into a memorable framework.

A must read for the novice or tenured teachers.
I used to work as a teacher overseas and I wish this book would have been available when I started teaching. The book is easy to read and is full of valuable insight. A must read for the novice or tenured teachers.
