I mixed this one 1:1 with soil and it saved my indoor plants. So happy!

I use them for the composting toilet in my RV. Once you make them fluffy, they work wonderful.

My small yard is scorched in the afternoon sun. Watering was almost daily. I researched ways to retain moisture. I came across similar products and chose this one. Glad I did. The bricks are so compact that it took gallons for one brick to rehydrate. And it rehydrated quickly. I used it as mulch. And the watering in this past heatwave came to once a week. I have some bricks left over for next spring. Will order agin from this seller if I need more. Finally not nerve- wracked when I go away a few days a week.

* Does not expand as much as other coir brands; therefore, lower quality; * Appears to consist of less expensive coir fines---small particles of coir that have low expansion; * I now spend more money to get better expanding coir; * It's coir---higher pH than acidic peat moss for non acid loving plants and trees; * It's coir---it allows soil to breath and hold moisture; and * Also consider perlite and vermiculite to amend soil tilth.

Somewhat as described. They do come in bricks you soak to expand. One brick in a average bucket (2.5 gallons-ish) with water fills up after about an hour BUT and this is why it gets 3 stars not 5 I kept finding shreds of plastic all over. There should be zero microplastics especially when you say something is organic and you want to grow vegetables you will be consuming.

This coir doesn't expamd well. Maybe exoamds to a gallon a brick. Had to use 4 bricks for a 5 gallon pot. TERRIBLE QUALITY

This product helps keep your soil moist and loose, when mixed together with the soil. Compact enough to store or transport.

I was not expected it would be so great honestly. I tried with hot or warm water which was better outcome for me. It became more fluffy and more soil. So far so good.

I got this to use as my main soil; unfortunately it seems this product is not organic. My seedlings started to bleach and leafs showed signs of burn around the rim. All signs of excess salt. Another review mentioned the very strong chemical odour; that was very noticeable to me too. Highly indicative of synthetic fertilizer being used; these are sodium based and will do this to seedlings and young plants. This is false advertising and should be relabelled or removed. If you do end up using this, I would do multiple flushes with a strainer or something until that chemical smell is completely gone. Also note that it's very fine and can't be used alone, needs to be mixed with chips or pith. It will compact too much and choke your plants; especially if you put rocks on top surface or above drainage. If you do, water will drain off like a river. Maybe good for succulents that need dessert like dense soil.

I use coir to mix in soil blends instead of peat moss, it is almost exactly the same only more eco-friendly. Peat moss is harvested from peat bogs which are both natural carbon sinks and also important ecological wildlife and flora areas. Coconut coir is a by product of the coconut industry which would be wasted otherwise. Put a brick of coir in a part bucket of water, wait until it hydrates and then mix it with amendments of choice.
