If Ginseng Is Your Thing
NOW Foods Panax Ginseng, 250 Capsules / 500mg - As I always start with when I post reviews on supplements, I take numerous varieties and combinations of supplements a day and I understand everybody's body is different. As for Ginseng in general I truly have been over all disappointed after trying numerous brands and different does rates. This product was one of the first I ordered about a year ago and after finishing the bottle is when I like to post reviews. Looking back now I went 4 stars as the shipping was fast and I think there is value here as related to the number of capsule's and dose rate as I like to take 1000mg a day. I ordered another brand that was more expensive thinking I would get better Ginseng but really didn't see any difference. So In closing if Ginseng works for you then this product should work fine and fulfill your needs, for me as a whole I have just about dropped Ginseng from my daily regime as I get more of a boost from other supplements.

Panax ginseng
Panax Ginseng is commonly referred to as the 'True Ginseng' (being the most researched 'Ginseng' actually belonging to the plant family of 'Ginseng') and appears to be effective for mood, immunity, and cognition; subpar for erections, testosterone, and exercise.Panax Ginseng tends to be taken in doses of 200 to 400mg daily for general 'preventative' medicine, although some studies on the inclusion of Panax Ginseng in a multivitamin suggest doses as low as 40mg might be bioactive. The 400mg dose appears to confer most cognitive benefit. These doses refer to standard 'Ginseng Extract' which is around 2-3% total Ginsenosides, and is a once daily dosage.Trials using Korean Red Ginseng extract for erectile health and libido enhancement tend to use 3g of total KRG extract daily, in three doses of 1000mg.A decrease in fasting blood glucose has been noted over time with standard supplemental doses of panax ginseng in diabetics, with this dose being ineffective in altering the blood glucose of non-diabetics; high (20g) doses may acutely reduce blood glucose in healthy personsAn increase in cognition is seen acutely and thought to be due to anti-fatigue effects, with nonfatigued individuals not experiencing an increase in cognitive performanceAn improvement in erectile dysfunction is seen with 3g of Korean Red Ginseng (fermented panax ginseng, regular panax ginseng not as well tested) which is thought to be secondary to anti-fatigue effects and improved blood flowThere appears to be an increase in well being and happiness in persons who either have a disease state treated (ie, better glycemic control in diabetes or less erectile dysfunction) and this may also apply to acute usage of 400mg panax ginseng during acute mental stress. In an unstressed and healthy person, panax ginseng is unlikely to have benefit

great, but I don't particularly notice anything
Ginseng is one of those herbs that I've used on and off for 20 years. I must say, every time I've tried it, and from every company, I can't identify any noticeable effects. Every few years I read something else positive about it and I try it again. In my experience, the effects are anywhere from placebo to mild. I've also never had a negative experience with ginseng. No negative side effects. From what I can tell, it doesn't help much, but doesn't hurt either. Perhaps has mild adaptogenic effects I'm not noticing. If it helps support adrenals, great, but I don't particularly notice anything. Not an herb I would recommend, but I would also say I'm not aware of any downside and some people feel they benefit from it, so if you want to give it a shot, there's nothing to lose but a few bucks. NOW's ginseng is pretty cheap, and they seem to be a reputable company.
