Space bar defect, only registers key presses about half the time.
I really wanted to like this keyboard. It looks and feels like it's quality and the keys feel nice, but it quickly became apparent that the space bar is dysfunctional. It only has one contact point, so you have to hit the space bar very hard and right in the center to get it to register. If you hit it to the left or right side, or on the bottom edge, it won't register your key press. I've had thin keyboards on IBM Thinkpads, and Dells, and they've never had this sort of problem. Other reviewers on the Amazon.co.uk site mentioned this space bar problem. I should have listened to their warnings. I'm typing this review on my old membrane bluetooth keyboard, which actually responds to key presses, thank goodness. One other thing, this keyboard is quite wide, not sure what the extra space on the edges is for. I feel like I have to keep my mouse much farther to the right than with any previous keyboard I've used.

Really Quiet!
I took this out of the box, plugged it in, and off we went. I bought this keyboard specifically because I do a lot of note taking in a public environment (I'm a District Clerk for a large Sanitary District). I heard from several regular attendees of our meetings that my typing noise was distracting to them. This keyboard will definitely not be a distraction. Wow, is it ever quiet. I love it.I'm only giving 4 stars right now because it's fresh out of the box. I'll amend the star rating in a couple of weeks, once it's been in actual use for a while.

Not that Quiet
It was not any quieter than my Toshiba Satellite Pro Keyboard. I just ordered one of those rubber keyboards you rollup and I will try that. I am not saying its not a quiet keyboard, just not quiet enough. It probably is a decent keyboard but I returned it. I need a very quiet keyboard so I do not wake my roommate.

Great keyboard with that Thinkpad feel and sound
An excellent keyboard. I really like the Thinkpad keyboards for my Lenovo laptops and have always wanted to find something similar for my desktop. I think this is it. It has that same feedback feel to it. It has audio keys that work with media player that are very handy. The keys have a nice tactile feel and have a very light click just like the Thinkpad keyboards. Seems very solid and well built. So now I've found my favorite keyboard for the desktop.

As quiet as advertised - my wife loves me again!
Really quiet and well-built piece of electronics. Definitely not a toy like so many cheap keyboards. Don't balk at the slightly higher price than the cheapo's and don't pay $100 or more for a gaming keyboard just to get a quieter typing experience. This keyboard will do the job and keep the peace in your home office.

Great
I use these for pc repair. The USB and ps2 support make them great. They type like a good quality laptop keyboard and are very quiet. Havn't had trouble with them yet and I've been using a few for over a year now.

Two Stars
Not much better than my old keyboard. I ended up getting a much more expensive one.

Alt, Ctrl, Shift and Windows keys are not working and something is broken inside that's making noise
Pros:The Cherry eVolution Stream XT is very well built; I'll give it that much.It has very nice and soft keycaps which feel premium.Cons:As soon as I opened the box I noticed that the PS/2 adapter was not included. Big disappointment as the product description says it has both USB and PS/2.On connecting to PC, the first button I hit was the Windows button. And lo, it didn't work. Slowly I found out that both Shift, Control and Alt keys also don't work. I tried connecting to different PC and nothing changed. So technically the unit I received is a brick. Also, if the shake the keyboard or even pick it up, I can hear that something small is broken/loose inside as it keeps moving.I bought this keyboard trusting Cherry's reputation. This unit is made in China. On the box it's written "Designed in Germany". I think that is the only German thing about it.Might have been great if it was fully functional.

Gut
