Snap fit kit that really needs to glued.
I have recently purchased this kit from another source and I have at this time nearly completed it. I'm more of a 1:35 scale builder as I feel that scale gives a good balance on size and detail. I purchased this primarily because I have built or seen one of these Zvezda 1:100 armour kits. What you get here is a small, rather flat box that contains two parts trees, instructions and a gaming card. The detail is really quite nice but some is missing such as cables, antenna, handles and track detail, no seeing this as a negative though, after all this is 1:100 scale. One parts free contains the underside of the hull, two track and wheel assemblies, the gun and mantlet. The other contains the four parts to complete the turret, the hull top and muzzle of the gun.The turret construction is quite novel in that the sides and roof press fit onto an odd looking protruding tree that comes out from the back of the gun. A good idea but sadly is does not work as it should as the seams on the parts do not either meet properly of levelly. I decided to remove this locating tree and simply glue the 5 parts of the turret together, remembering to save the opposite end of the tree where the rear machine gun muzzle is found protruding from the rear panel. The hull is a simple affair, the top and bottom fit quite well after removing the press fit pegs and using glue. As i an air brushing this i added the turret to the top of the hull, having first opened up the locating hole found in the center of the turret ring, and glued in the position I required. The tracks, wheels and side walls are all in one part and there is a lot of cleaning up where the tracks are attached to the parts trees. The tracks are simply ridges plastic with no detail or even the look of linked segments, just wavy ridges. The central track guides are overly big inverted V wedge shapes but do not loo foo bad, there is sag present where the tracks run over the top of the roller wheels and the central v guides detail is thicker here, running from the central position all the way to the side wall. Wheel detail is good and should be quite visible with weathering. The plastic is quite supple and soft and this can be a problem when cleaning it up with a blade and sanding smooth can take a fair amount of work. The tracks look good for there lack of detail and seat with two locating pins on either side with no problem, i did not remove these pins as there were no gaps left. There are no decals provided, but a little look in the spares bins should find something I can use for pure aesthetic value.I am still working on this little kit and it looks great if you don't mind the missing detail.

Reasonably detailed for the size
Been hesitating for a few years on purchasing these 1/100 scale armour "kits" from Zvezda. Read good & bad reviews, but for 8 bucks decided to give it a try.Pro's: very easy to assemble; good details given the small scale (about the size of a matchbox); easy to paint & weather to make it realistic; good for wargaming (which is obviously what they're designed for); cute-looking (yeah, I know it's a brute-ugly Soviet tank; but the size just makes you go "awww" as it smashes through a to-scale fence & blasts away the side of a house).Con's: brittle plastic which makes removing from the sprue difficult; over-priced (even at $8) - reckon these should be no more than $5, tops.Glad I didn't buy a stack of different models, just the KV1, KV2 & IS2. As the famous movie says "for a few dollars more" you can buy a 1/35 scale Zvezda kit that blows these away at maximum range.Am I happy? Yeah, but kinda feel daft for thinking they were more value than they turned out to be. Enough to say I didn't send 'em back but made irrespective of the whinge.Buyer beware.

KV-2

Perfect for kids who has no patience and precision required ...
High quality. It's very small, but very cute. Perfect for kids who has no patience and precision required for glue models. My 4-year old son had no problem to assemble it himself.
