The reason some have trouble with this hook is because one side is left hand thread and the other side is right hand thread. You have to put the right hand in the right hand thread on the turn buckle and the left hand in on the other side left hand thread, with that said the turn buckle has one side right and the other is left hand thread you have to match up the correct stem of the latch with the correct side of the turn buckle or you will ruin the thread trying to get it to screw into the turn buckle on the wrong side of the turn buckle. This is a well thought out latch hook! It solves a lot of other problems should check green on everything.

The product was defective. The threads on one of the screws were warped so it would not screw properly into the middle bar. The company specifically included a card with a QR code to their Facebook Messenger asking you to contact them directly if you were not satisfied and they guaranteed they would make it right "We'll make it right with a replacement or refund as soon as possible" no need to visit the post office." I live in the country so I chose to reach out this way as they requested instead of the Amazon refund process which requires me to drive to a different town to drop off at a return location. 7 weeks later I still have not got a response. I understand a company wanting you to give them a chance fist to make something right, but I don't understand specifically asking a customer to reach out to you through this method if you have no intention of responding.

I really liked the adjustability of the hook so that the door fits snug and does not rattle in the wind. My only advice is to be careful with the screws. I am used to working with stainless steel screws and was surprised with how soft and brittle (cheap) these screws are in comparison. The head can strip easily and I even snapped the first one off because I did not have the torque set correctly on my driver. My bad.

Strong material and very sturdy. Easy to install as a gate latch and works well.

The concept of this product is excellent. It can be used in 180-degree positions, 90-degree positions, and even in other intermediate angles, which makes it very versatile. The design and overall idea are very good. However, the issue is with the product’s construction. It arrived with damaged threads, both on the nut and on the bolt/screw. The threading on both parts was faulty, making it very difficult to insert. After finally managing to thread it, it would not go all the way in, so I couldn’t achieve the minimum distance I needed. On the opposite side, a similar issue occurs: it threads well at first, but once it reaches the end, it no longer threads. In conclusion, this is not a design problem but a manufacturing quality issue. The concept is great, but the execution needs improvement.

Pros: Everything except the screws is pretty good so far. I'll update this if that changes in the next few months. Cons: the screws it came with are absolute hot garbage. I put two into my fence with low torque into standard pressure treated 2x4 about a quarter inch from the surface. I got some screws from elsewhere and had zero problems. I recommend either A) putting in a pilot hole and hoping for the best, or B) buying some third party screws to fasten this. It's unfortunate because it seems like a good product but they decided to cheap out on the screws.

We have two. One top hold the gate wide open so we can move garden equipment and supplies through, one to hold the gate open just enough for cats to pass in/out (but not deer). ¶ We have two house cats, several feral cats, and a "Purrfect Fence" that keeps our house cats in the yard during they day, and a herd of deer living in the woods. ¶ We need the gate ajar for the feral cats during the night, but to keep the deer out. Our "Purrfect Fence" would trap the feral cats in the yard if they climbed in, so the second hook solves the problem:: feral cats can come and go, deer don't get in! Pictures of the latch in action, and our house cat (Ara) sitting on a post, kept in the yard by the "Purrfect Fence."

One star because the packaging is very nice and the lock on the latch is a feature that is hard to find. That said, I read all of the reviews before I made my purchase a couple of weeks ago. Even though there were a few that stated the product was rusty, most of the reviews were positive, so I bought two because the feature I liked was the locking mechanism on the latch. When I opened the first package and tried to put the product together (inserting the ends in to the center piece to adjust the size of the product), both ends were visibly rusy on the center piece and it took some effort to get one of the ends into it. When I tried to put the other end of the latch into the center piece, it was too large for the hole! So, not only does the company store the product in an area where it will develop rust, they have an issue with fit. I was very disappointed in this product. Perhaps they should take some of that money that they are putting into a very nice package and use it to improve the manufacturing process and storage.

Really useful that its adjustable

Terrible quality, very poor threads that won't screw in unless you are able to tap and die them. Soft steel strips the internal thread and the whole thing rusty inside 24 hours of being outside. Don't waste your money on this.

Awful. The threads simply do not align- you can not even assemble this never mind adjust.

A lot more lightweight than it appears in the photos. Not sure how long this will last on our heavy gate.
