“The bush was burning, yet it was not consumed” How can an unholy people stand before a holy God? Who is God, and what is His relationship to His creation? And how can we know Him? In Exodus 3, Moses saw a bush that was burning yet was not consumed by the flames. When he turned to look at it, God gave him one of the most profound theology lessons recorded in the Bible. There, God revealed Himself in a remarkable way, and as Dr. R.C. Sproul writes, His revelation in the burning bush continues to have relevance for Christians today. Review: One of the Best - It was many decades ago when I first read R.C. Sproul’s book, the Holiness of God (It’s great to re-read this Kindle version). I was a young Christian believer and the book had a profound impact upon me. This book will not leave a person in the middle. It will either draw us closer to God or drive us from Him. Make no mistake about this, God is holy! His being is without flaw, yet His desire is to draw people to Him through His Son Jesus who is the Christ. Just as Moses was commissioned to redeem and restore Israel to God, so Jesus does, our Redeemer and Deliverer. RC, who is now enjoying the presence of God, wrote a masterpiece in the Holiness of God. By doing so, he not only served us well but even more so served His Lord well. Review: Absolutely Loved It - This book is an easy read. What I loved about the book was how it expounded on Moses' interaction with the burning bush while explaining "I AM."

God is Transcendent and Immanent
An in depth look at God's transcendence and immanence, as exposed in the narrative of Moses' meeting with God. Sproul does a good job looking at the text and relating it to us as usual, and everyone is bound to learn a thing or two from this book.

It’s a quick read, and scripturally supported. I especially liked Chapter 4’s insight into Christophany.

Amazing book!
All I can say is WOW. What an amazing book! Because we have an amazing and awesome God! Dr. Sproul really knows the beauty and power of God and spells it out clearly in this book. Although it's mainly about Moses and his encounter with God in the burning bush, Dr. Sproul also covers other theophanies of God's Shekinah glory. He writes about God's immanence (nearness to us) and transcendence (that He's above and beyond our scope) and that He alone is holy. Rather than go through the book for you, as others have done already, I'm just going to say get it and read it and be ready and open to adding a totally new dimension of your perception of God and consequently your walk with Him. I received this book from the publisher through NetGalley with no requirement for a positive review, but I can think of no other type of review to give!

Another joy filled book by R.C.
Moses and the Burning Bush, by R. C. Sproul, is a rich and eloquent account of Moses’ encounter with God in the burning bush. In Dr. Sproul’s usual inimitable style, he lays open the rich meaning of this mysterious event by disclosing the personality, character and transcendence of God Himself. As Sproul writes, “...the theophany in which God appeared to Moses—the transcendent majesty of God was partially unveiled.” In His interaction with Moses, God reveals not only His majesty but His mercy. The great I AM establishes a covenant with Moses that will lead to the redemption of sinful man. Sproul’s joy in his subject matter is evident throughout this simple, easy to read book. A reworking of an older Bible study series by Dr. Sproul, Moses and the Burning Bush is a must have for anyone who wishes to be reminded of who God is and why we worship him.

Enjoyable read! I learned a lot!
RC Sproul was an amazing preacher and writer! He took scriptures that could be difficult and breaks them down into easy to follow and understand explanations. This book is one of many and it was excellent. As another reviewer stated, the take-home points are God’s transcendence and immanence. But, it obviously goes deeper than that. I like that it is not too wordy, but is packed full of information. I voluntarily reviewed this book from a complimentary e-copy. I don’t always review books with 5 stars, but this one was great!

This book goes direct to the goal. Moses and God conversation through the burning bush. There are many good insight’s. This one ahead is quite important: (…) It’s almost an institution in our culture to describe God as a higher power, a force, something greater than ourselves. But what is that higher power? Gravity? Lightning? Earthquakes? The trouble with a nebulous, nameless, characterless power is that, first, it is impersonal, and second and more importantly, it is amoral. There’s an upside and a downside to worshiping such a higher power. The upside, to a sinner, is that an impersonal, amoral force makes no ethical demands on anyone. Gravity does not make judgment about people’s behavior; even if someone should jump out of a window six stories high, there is no personal condemnation from gravity. No one’s conscience is seared by gravity. If your higher power is impersonal and amoral, that gives you a license to behave any way you want with impunity. The downside, however, is that there is nobody home. This belief means that there is no personal God, no Redeemer. What kind of a salvific relationship can you have with thunder? In God’s answer to Moses, we see a contrast to this impersonal force. He didn’t say, “It is what it is,” which seems to be the name of false gods of our day. He said, “I AM WHO I AM” (Ex. 3:14). This name is related to God’s personal name, Yahweh. So the very first thing that God reveals about Himself in that name is that He is personal. He can see; He can hear; He can know; He can speak. He can relate to the creatures He made in His own image. He is the God who brought up His people out of the land of Egypt. He is a God with a name and a history.

A must!
Everything Christian must have read this little but great book, because it speaks about our great God, the great “I am”.
