Q: Does anyone know how long the blade part is?

I think it is about 3 inches. I would not use for small child. My grandchild who uses them is almost 10 and loves that they are special left handed scissors.

Q: do these work for left hand ?

Yes, my husband and I both use them, he is a lefty.
