Product Description Music executive Daniel (Tom Hollander), actor Frank (Rufus Sewell) and painter Laurence (Joseph Fiennes) have been friends since childhood. Their relationship comes under strain, however, when all three find themselves pursuing the same woman - American Martha (Monica Potter), who has just arrived in England with a one-way ticket. Each man encounters Martha separately, but when she meets them en masse, which will she choose, if any? .co.uk Review The generic title of Martha - Meet Frank, Daniel and Laurence suggests a bland, by-the-numbers romantic comedy. Its dialogue certainly doesn't help--there's a lot of piffle about destiny and "having only one chance", etc.--but there are some surprising differences. The plot centres around Martha (Monica Potter), an American trying to start a new life in London. She meets three men (Tom Hollander, Rufus Sewell and Joseph Fiennes, who played the title role in Shakespeare in Love). These three are best friends and all three fall in love with her but the one she falls in love with feels like he's betraying the others to be with her. Despite the resulting confusion, she pursues him to the end--which makes it unlike most current romantic comedies where the woman is a hapless love object to be captured by the right guy. But more entertainingly, Martha - Meet Frank, Daniel and Laurence pays particular attention to the ways men delude themselves because the two friends Martha doesn't care for are both convinced she's hankering for them, which allows for some fairly subtle skewering of the male ego. It's a flimsy movie but no more so than Notting Hill and Joseph Fiennes, in particular, has a relaxed, winning charm that marks him as a rising star. --Bret Fetzer

Innocent fun
A great film for everyone, lots of fun. Nothing too graphic. Funny moments that look as if they might have been improvised, these make the film great, not overacted like a lot of films.

Excellent !
This is a truly interesting rom.com. The cast is great including wonderful Ray Winstone. In fact there are 4 leading actors and one actress, every and each very important to the story. It's got the feel of the 90s and for me Monica Potter is great, although she is not a famous actress to me, and she manages to balance the masculine factor in both acting and in the story as well. She is feminine and radiant, while from the three men I'd like to distinguish the Joseph Fiennes acting, just saying that Tom Hollaner is always good ! The movie was very pleasant to watch.

Great film, unknown classic.
Excellent film, underated, almost unknown but got it from a video rental years ago and loved it ever since. Finally bought it on DVD. But of a shame there are no subtitles on this release but otherwise is fine. I'm more interested in plots, dialogue and a clear image than amazing super HD and surround sound. Batman rises has all that but you still can't hear a word they say and find yourself turning the volume up and down for the explosions whilst wondering who each person is in the gloomy dark range of tones. But I digress. Great romantic easy to watch and enjoy.

Martha meet ... take your pick
I thoroughly enjoyed this. Shakespeare it is not but if you are looking for a Rom.Com you need look no further. Played with the lightest touches by a superb cast ( look out for Ray Winstone playing against type), get some choccies and a glass of wine and settle down to enjoy it. Personally if I was Martha, I would have picked the wonderful profane and witty Frank. But then there is no accounting for taste and the other two are quite delightful too..

Simpatica commedia

How very :) <3
I LOVE this film! At first I liked it but it was still kind of eh. But it stayed with me and really grew on me until I had to watch it again and buy it! And I have kept watching it since then, a ton, always noticing new things and finding even more to laugh about! This is truly a gem, a vastly overlooked gem. Monica Potter is great as always and I LOVE Joseph Fiennes (check out Shakespeare in Love while you're at it!), and Tom Holland was hilarious! (Mr. Collins in Pride and Prejudice, 2005), and Rufus Sewell, who I am not too much of a fan of had me laughing too. I have absorbed and felt this movie with every part of my body (figuratively) and will always love this film.
