Wow!!! What a book!
My goodness ...so much to unveil! Get ready! So much to learn in this book, always with Lady Regina to torment! Many laughs with Daisy and Frederick... Can hardly wait for the next novellas! Great to visit the Duke and Duchess of Trent as well.

Enjoyable but not without faults
Another reviewer has mentioned the misuse of titles and dropping of titles, so I won't repeat that. However, what I immediately picked up was the mention of both Grey Squirrels in Hyde Park and a mention of Narnia in relation to a wardrobe. Grey Squirrels weren't introduced to the UK until the 1870's, this book is set in 1816 and the Narnia books weren't written until the 20th century. Also, Livie follows "the drum" and her husband to Spain and it mentions fighting. There was no more fighting in Europe after the Battle of Waterloo in 1815, I don't think, except for more fighting in France to dethrone the King again, but that was much later. Joshua would have been more likely to be sent to either Canada or India. However, that said I did enjoy this book.

Good book but poor editing
No issues with the stories but after reading all three one after another the poor detail showed. In book 2 Lady Paget became Lady Shrewsbury for several pages; the hero of book 2 - (Baron) Lord Peregrine became “ merely a mister” in book three plus misuse of words were noted e.g content instead of contend. Similar in spelling but…. Sort of spoils the flow for me.

Not the best by a very good author.
Have read many Eloisa James novels but definitely won’t be buying the rest of this series. The side characters were more interesting and seemed to be more detailed than the main couple. Far too long spent on how awful the father was instead of interactions between couple. More connections with hero’s brother and heroine. This one not for me.

Oh, so good
A fabulous series. James writes the best alpha male protagonists, who come with a sense of humor, a great capacity for love, and a protective nature that just won’t quit. Lucky heroines. All her characters are so well written that even those fascinating butlers are deserving of their own story. Maybe a future offering? At any rate, I would love to have one of those roomy blue wardrobes. Yes, I would.

History-disaster
Story is a nice read for a rainy weekend if one manages to ignore the language not fitting the time frame at all.(more regarding the time frame below) I really doubt an English regency lady would use the term Maverick to describe a society lady. 1. Americanism 2. according to Websters dictionary „ A lawyer named Samuel A. Maverick lived in southern Texas in the middle of the 19th century“. So no.Which really drives me crazy is the non-existing time frame. Did anybody proofreading the story ever had any history lessons at all? It is set after Waterloo, but Napoleon is still at Elba (really?). St Helena after Waterloo.Hint: the coalition wars ended with Waterloo, so the battles the Mayor is supposed to join don’t exist. The 5. dragoon guards did fight in spain, but were not fighting at Waterloo.Neither were they deployed in Spain after the war. Neither did any battles happen in Spain at that time.So where the 2 were campaigning after Waterloo we will never know. The only war’s the UK fought after Waterloo till crimea in 1854(the next war for the 5. dragoon) were either India or South Africa. No 5. dragoons deployed in neither war.Regarding the main plot: French revolutionaries planing to kill the English king in 1815/16?? Why? Which revolutionaries??? Why the English king? They again had a very disliked king in France Louis XVIII, why not kill him??Waterloo sets the story at 1815, the main plot at 1789-1804 at latest. The revolution was over when Napoleon became Emperor(some years earlier, but let’s not be nitpicking). The 5. dragoon guards were deployed to Spain in 1810-right in the middle of the premier empire.Regarding the elder brother not wanting to become an earl: too late, the father was a marquis, so earl was the curtesy title for the elder son.Regarding basic facts: the mayor has the reassuring weight of his saber on his right hip.. sabers are on the left(!!) hip, a saber is not a colt. Drawing a 1m long blade with your right hand from your right hip doesn’t work.Story would be 3-4 stars, the mindbogling nonsense time frame lowers it to 1star.

Good story, bad editing....again
Just like the other novella the editing is poor and the format read poorly on my Kindle. Instead of a chapter starting at the top of a page, everything ran together. I have nothing bad to say about the stories themselves only that the format and editing are poor. Otherwise I would give all 3 novellas 5stars

This is a really good ride!!!
I believe this is my favorite of the 3 I have read so far!The plot is great but it's the two cousins who shine and sparkle with lifeand joy that really "grab" you!For the main character, Livie, it is a roller coaster ride of emotions andquite a few revelations about her "father"! The hero's brother is another great character youlearn to care about quite soon in the book. The book is one you do not want to put down and yourmind will not leave it lay for long. This is an excellent book and I will be buying the next one as soon as I can!

Needs More Historical Research
I like Ms. James' characters, but am often brought up short by poor research. (1) The chapter title "Wardrobes are not just for Narnia" clearly refers to The Chronicles of Narnia, which was written in the 1900's is definitely not a reference a person living in the early 1800's would have used. (2) A captain of a British warship is referred to as "a hollow man in a red coat." British Naval Officers did not wear red coats in the 1800's, but rather blue. (3) Military Officers wear their swords on the side opposite their dominant hand. A reference to a character's sword bumping comfortably on his right leg would imply he was left handed, though that wasn't mentioned elsewhere in the text.
