DECENT CLAM SHELL 3 DISC REMASTERED BOX SET OF PROG, HARD ROCK AND FOLK.
this is a decent clam shell box set of three remastered cds that sound great, you get here a good cross section and variety of a lot of well remembered outfits from the late 1960s/ through 1976 by uk outfits on the transatlantic label like STRAY, PENTANGLE, CIRCUS, GRYPHON, THE DEVIANTS, MICK FARREN, SKIN ALLEY , JODY GRIND & OTHERS. this box set comes with a really nice booklet wich covers all that had to do with the transatlantic label and what was going on in the uk post psyche with hard rock, acid rock, folk and prog, this was released on the esoteric label wich has been putting out a lot of 60s/70s and 80s uk prog the past 10 years or so now, this is another great collection released by this label and a great place to start if you are getting into some of these bands and or have been into them......................

Extraño tiempo creativo
Llegó conforme a lo anunciado. Escucharlo es como entrar a un sueño: bizarro y a la vez diverso. Pero siempre interesante.

There was more to “Transatlantic” than pure folk music – and it is here for you to discover!
I bought this new 3 CD compilation “Let The Electric Children Play: The Underground Story Of Transatlantic Records” after having been really impressed by compiler Mark Powell's earlier collections for his own Esoteric Recordings label - if you are familiar with any of them yourself you may well enjoy this time trip back to those heady years between 1968 and 1976. This collection is issued on the Esoteric Recordings label and is a project involving BMG Rights Management (UK) and Cherry Red Records - it features material originally released on Nat Joseph's folk-oriented Transatlantic label. Eclectic is a word often used to describe music compilations but it really does apply to the selection of music from Transatlantic and, although very folky, it stretches into the realms of what we used to know as Underground Music. After 1967 the offshore radio stations were no more and there were very few opportunities to hear this type of music unless you saw the artists live or caught them on the limited BBC radio programmes from the likes of John Peel and Pete Drummond. Underground Music gradually became more mainstream later spawning the likes of Progressive Rock and the more “serious” musical styles of the seventies. However, this new compilation is great listening and features many bands and artists I saw play live in the early seventies bringing back many happy memories – I had forgotten quite how diverse the Transatlantic catalogue was! This 3 CD box set is lovingly produced and the CDs are presented in individual card sleeves within a clamshell case. Apart from the newly re-mastered music itself the highlight of this collection is the superbly informative and well illustrated 48 page booklet giving all the detail you need on the artists and tracks featured. There are quite a few long tracks included on this set, which runs to over three and a half hours, and you really need to put a whole evening aside to play it through and read the booklet! Currently a little over eighteen pounds from Amazon this is a very interesting addition the the Esoteric Recordings catalogue which mixes the familiar with the unusual and is well worth hearing.

Oft eher zum durchhalten dan zum geniessen.
Music für kenner und Musiker.? Stray kannte ich von ihren späteren Alben. "Move it " Mag ich nog immer. Gary Rafferty und Mike Oldfield haben auch nog richtig gute songs gemacht. Das booklet ist richtig gut. Die box sieht im ganzen gut aus. Aber die meiste Musik fand ziemlich "Boring".
