So far so good. Easy set up, working well. Biggest thing is to see how long it works since that seems to be the death of most of my previous units. This one is sturdy and well-protected from drops which should help. Recommend using a USB-to-USB connector link if you frequently connect/disconnect to protect the unit's port (which is the first thing to go on my other units).

the durable exterior is great and the fact that it's plug and play is a godsend, but being so far off of the advertised mark is something that (while not a huge issue for me personally) is something I think potential buyers should be aware of.

This is NOT a "plug and play" item. After I bought it I learned that I had to register the product in Taiwan. No problem, right? WRONG! The page displayed to register this would not accept my data. It also had that "are you a robot" box to fill in. I did it correctly many times and it would not acknowledge my correct answer. I sent it back and bought a 1tb plug and play external drive which works the way all my other external drives work. I have 2 other Samsung 1tb external drives and they work perfectly without the hassle. I cannot recommend this product.

I'm a cinematographer and digital artist so I need A LOT more storage than the usual user. This is my second time buying this hard drive. I'm a biker and I ride everywhere I go. Build quality is easily it's strongest feature. It has survived falling in water, heavy rainfall and ocassionally dropping it. The cable of the first hard drive got lose on the hdd end after a while but I haven't encountered this problem on the second one yet. All my footage and assets or stored in these hard drives and they work lightning fast. Read/write speeds are really fast and impressive. If you travel a lot and often go through rough circumstances, this is a perfect hard drive.
