In the land of the blind ...
I brought both books in the series, so this is kind of a review of both. I've not yet done the trip, but I know the english section of the journey well. From my point of view a travel guide needs 5 things:1 - Detailed route description, from the bit of the route I know this book provides an excellent route description, especially for walkers;2 - Accomodation and Eateries, the accomodation list looks useful, especially if you're a horse rider, but as for me who likes camping there are some ommisions;3 - Useful Contact details, there are details of local tourist offices, doctors and farriers, so that's more info than I need.;4 - Locations of cultural importance, there is some cultural/local information which is probably enough that you can figure out your priorities en-route;5 - Events of cultural importance (like fiestas, carnivals etc)to help with the planning, there is almost no information about cultural events, with one exception that I can see.Books aimed at those cycling from Hampshire to Santiago are clearly in a niche market (of one), and so some slack has to be given to the authors. The book(s) is a good starting point for planning the trip, and given the lack of commercial appeal I'm guessing the only book(s) that will be available for some time to come. You will need more information to finish the trip to Santiago as the route stops half way down France.
