Lucaffé 150 Lucaffe' Lucaffeina Pulcinella ESE Espresso Pods

This is an excellent Southern Italian style blend: bold and strong but very tasty. Lucaffe promotes the caffeine kick, and there is one, but that's not the reason to buy this.We used switched from grinding fresh beans to ESE pods a while back because of speed and simplicity and never looked back. While nothing replicates a perfect grind/tamp/pull, a good ESE can get pretty close, without the time and mess. Since then, we've tried many ESE pods, and enjoy switching around, even during the day (a lot easier when you don't have to grind beans). We've found the two biggest variables for success are the quality of the blend and the construction of the pod.QUALITY OF THE BLEND:All of Lucaffe's blends are very good to excellent, and each is quite different. Pulcinella is a Southern Italian style blend, which means dark roasted, simple, bold, and strong. And for what it is, it's very tasty espresso, nothing like the charcoal taste of "espresso blend" like Starbucks. I don't notice much more caffeine than other Southern style Robusta blends, which are all higher in caffeine than the smoother Arabica blends. Pulcinella perfect for milk based drinks like cappuccino and lattes, or iced coffees, where a smoother, more complex Arabica can get lost. It's also great as a nice, clean stand-alone espresso in the AM and early afternoon when you want something strong and punchy. I love pulling it as a ristretto in the morning. In the later afternoon or especially after dinner, I switch to an Arabica based blend, which is smother and lower in caffeine.THE PODS:Always well made, nicely packed, fresh, and great fit in my machine. They give a good even pour with nice cream.THE COMPANY:We have ordered from Espressotiamo many times. They ship fast, really know their products, and have always shipped fresh pods.

These pods produce intense and great tasting espresso with a decent crema, at a very affordable price. They work perfectly with my illy E.S.E. machine. Also the seller Espressotiamo provides great proactive customer service.

I LIKES IT. I had to write, having read the comment from one purchaser that it didn't work in the nepresso machine, s o give it one star. wake up and smell the coffee sweetheart - it pays to read the reviews and questions because these ain't nepresso pods (thank god). I moved from grinding my own beans and making a hand-pulled espresso, to ESE pods and I will never look back. Taste convenience and cleanup - the trifecta. Having shopped around for pods, I've settled on Lucaffe as my GO-TO,NUMERO UNO, PRIMO brand because it's fresh and the taste is as close to southern Europe as we can get here in the colonies. This ugly American knows what he likes in an expressso shot, and Pulcinella is my starting beverage every morning. Now I have the right machine and life is good. CIAO BELLA!

I’m an experienced espresso drinker and the flavor is superb. I’ll buy again if they don’t jack the price!

The best ESE pod I could find so far. I used it with my Handpresso and in my Gaggia Carezza espresso maker. Both of them gave perfect results. I re-ordered it 6 times in the past 3 years. It was all the time excellent quality.

We have ordered this several times, and it is my husband’s favorite. He likes a creamy dark roast and that is exactly what he gets from this coffee.

Coffee is good, nice aroma, strength. What I don't like is that about 10% of the pods weren't properly sealed/pressed and consequently leak the grounds.
