Exceeds Expectations - UPDATED Review
Some up front info...I live in AZ and have a lot of mature trees in the yard including palms, 60' pines, and 75' eucalyptus trees. If you have experience with those you know how much litter they drop. In the spring we get a massive amount of leaves, needles, bark, and pollen in the yard. And when that stuff sits in the pool, yep, it turns green. As a result I would find myself skimming our 40x20 pool a few times a day trying to stay ahead of the algae. Enter the Betta! I purchased the Plus model which includes a plug-in charger as well as solar. Charging: From the moment I dropped this in the pool I have been thoroughly impressed. In AZ we get a lot of sun and this robot dutifully runs 24x7 - all day AND all night just from the solar charge. We did have a couple of cloudy days and sure enough it ran out of charge overnight on those days. So it definitely needs a lot of sun if you want uninterrupted performance. If you get clouds, make sure you get the Plus with the plug-in option. Performance: in a word, outstanding. When the robot is running I have only needed to skim out large clumps of needles or large debris a couple of times. The Betta handles everything else with ease. What I've noticed is the bot crisscrosses the pool, but frequently runs along the walls into the corners. This is perfect because that's where debris ultimately accumulates. Cleanup is easy - just empty and spray out the filter basket - a 3 minute job.For me the results are perfect. Each morning the surface is glassy and its 99% clean all day long. Excellent little machine and worth the expense - especially if you get a lot of debris in the pool. I also purchased the 3 year extended warranty through Betta since this is going to get a lot of use. It's been running for about 8 weeks and no issues to report. UPDATE - it's now September and we're just about done with monsoon season here. The Betta has had a busy summer and it performed flawlessly the entire season. We also returned from a 12 day trip where I left the Betta in the pool. I knew it would get overworked and when we returned the Betta was sitting and flashing red/green. This indicated the propellers were jammed. Sure enough they were jammed with debris. After removing the debris and cleaning it up it's running perfectly again. So the self-protection auto shutoff worked great. Fantastic design, function, and performance on this machine!

Best purchase ever
We bought this guy “Rodney” (my daughter named him) in May when we opened our pool for the season. He has been the best purchase we’ve made all summer! He goes all day and night, we’ve had no problems at all. He swims and skims the pool 24/7. It is easy to clean the basket (daily) with a quick rinse by the hose. He picks up everything including leaves, hair, an occasional frog, and insects. The only issue is he sometimes gets stopped and stuck at our pool chairs on the sun shelf. I keep 2 bean chair floats on them and it is no longer an issue. This has paid for itself over and over again. I do not have to spend much time skimming our pool at all, if ever. The solar power is brilliant and I have not had to change the batteries or worry about it getting enough solar power. It just keeps skimming. I highly recommend this!

A MUST HAVE POOL PRODUCT !!!!!!!!
I am really sorry that I did not know a product like this existed many years ago, it would have made owning a pool a really great thing indeed instead of the years of suffering I endured before this wonderful device came along. Before I discovered this pool cleaning robot, the surface of my pool was a daily chore of constantly grabbing the pool skimmer net and getting all the dead Bees, Flies, Leaves, the neighbors leaves and everything else that fell into my pool skimmed off the surface. Many times this was a twice a day chore depending on the season. The Betta SE Plus pool skimmer robot can clean 24/7, even at night with no sunlight to charge the device. It is WELL WORTH THE MONEY!!!, and works exactly as described, its well made and charges sufficiently during the day to continue to cleaning the pool even in the darkness of night. I would highly recommend buying the BETTA SE PLUS pool skimmer as a must have pool cleaning tool that you can not live without. Another problem the pool skimmer has fixed for me as well is the problem of Bee’s landing in the water, then getting on the floating chairs and hiding in between the folds of the cloth back of the chair, then when someone sits on the chair they get stung in the back, this has happened to me twice and once to my grandchildren, it is really painful !! Since getting the BETTA SE PLUS Pool skimmer, the pool robot picks up all the floating bees that are still alive on the water surface and dead ones too, if the bees are still alive and can fly away they just get out the sides of the skimmer device and fly away to safety. Since I purchased the skimmer device I have not been stung by any bees. There are a lot of useless pool products that do not work out there, but this is definitely not one of them, I’ve owned my pool for 25 years and I can tell you that this is one of the BEST pool accessories ever invented, it’s basically like a Roomba robotic vacuum for your pool and it seems to know where the floating stuff is and goes after it. I am really glad that I bought this and it has saved me a load of work.

It Just Works!
I picked this up after spending a month watching various youtubers review robotic vacuums. This thing just WORKS. We got hit with a Nor'Easter here in NY recently (end of September 2026) and having a pool installed a few days before the storm hit, I wanted something to help me out. I wasn't able to vacuum the floor for a few days. This thing was a BEAST! I was able to run it at night, when the pool pump wasn't on (didn't want to run the pump at night for fear of it getting clogged). This collected a LOT of leaves and sticks. AMAZING job. It did so well even the big branches of leaves/sticks that it could not stuck up (because the sticks were long) would just stay in front of it. It was awesome. Very large collection basket. Now that the storm is over this thing runs all day and MOST of the night. It's been raining here so we've had bad sun coverage but I expect when the suns back out it'll run 24/7 without stopping as it'll get a full charge during the day. But so far so good! My regular pool skimmer doesn't really have much in it since this thing does the work for it. ONE issue, which is minor, is that when the water level rose (because of the storm) I found the robot would get stuck under the rail of my above ground pool. But once the water level was back to normal it was fine. I did end up using the included foam blocker on my skimmer as it did get stuck a few times. The corner of it would get stuck in my wide skimmer. But since I'm using this robot i'm not worried too much about a small blockage in my wide pool skimmer. It's worth it, as this does all the work for me.

“Set It and Forget It—This Skimmer Actually Works”
I did not get this for free and was not paid for this review. This is my real experience—and after owning it since June 2024, I’d absolutely buy it again. This thing is flat-out genius. I got mine in June of 2024, and it’s been running like a champ ever since. I already loved the idea of a solar-powered skimmer that runs all day on its own… but what really sold me is the fact that it comes with a remote so you can literally call it over to you when it’s time to empty it. No chasing it around the pool like you’re playing tag. It just cruises around quietly, picking up leaves, bugs, pollen—anything floating—and keeps the surface clean before it ever becomes a bigger mess. That alone saves a ton of work. What I love most: Remote control = zero hassle – Hit a button and it comes right to you for easy emptying Runs day AND night – As long as it gets good sunlight during the day, it stores enough power to keep going all night Actually keeps up with debris – Not just light dust… it handles real yard mess No cords, no stress – Drop it in and forget it The game-changer: Pair this with one of those robotic pool vacuums for the bottom, and you’ve basically eliminated pool cleaning as a chore. One handles the surface, the other handles the floor—and suddenly your pool isn’t a job anymore… it’s just something you enjoy. Bottom line: Between the solar power, nonstop cleaning, and that remote control feature, this feels like the future of pool care. It saves time, effort, and frustration—and once you have it, you won’t want to go back.

Cindy Bot wrangles Two Bots Named Top Bot 🤖 & Bottom Bot 🤖
I’ve been using this surface cleaner for about a month in a Florida pool surrounded by trees, including pines that drop an enormous amount of long needles and other debris. I already own a corded robotic cleaner for the bottom of the pool, so I bought this to handle what lands on the surface before it sinks. Overall, I’m glad I bought it, but it’s important to have realistic expectations. It collects debris. It doesn’t remove the debris from your life. You still have to empty and clean the basket, clean the edges of the pool, and deal with anything too large or too heavy for the robot. What it does well The fine-mesh basket is one of its biggest advantages. It collects leaves, pine needles, small pieces of bark, grass clippings and surprisingly fine debris. The attached photo shows just how much fine material it collected after grass clippings got into my pool. Much of that would pass through my regular handheld pool net. I’ve tried using an extremely fine-mesh handheld net, but the resistance makes it almost impossible to drag through the water. Having the robot do that work is genuinely useful. I will update this review in the spring when the pine trees release their annual massive thick yellow pollen which is a major problem I hope this bot resolves. The basket can also be removed while the robot remains in the pool, which I really like. And because it is solar powered, I normally just leave the unit in the pool and let it work. I strongly recommend buying the version that includes the plug-in charger. We had several cloudy days and I needed to bring mine inside and charge it. The small additional cost for that option is worth it. Where it struggles Heavy debris can overwhelm it. During windy weather, my pool can receive an extraordinary number of long pine needles. Once the basket fills, the robot can no longer collect them effectively and begins pushing them around the pool. In fairness, that is simply more debris than I would reasonably expect a small surface robot to handle. My video shows exactly that happening during a rainy day. It also does not clean right against the pool edge very well. Floating debris tends to collect there, and the robot approaches the wall and moves away. I still walk the perimeter occasionally with my regular pool net. Removing the basket is not always as easy as I think it should be. Mine consistently catches on one side and requires some jiggling to remove. Some waterlogged debris can also fall back through the intake while I’m removing the basket. Using it with a bottom-cleaning robot This is important if you already have a corded bottom robot. I would not leave the two running together unattended. My surface robot has straddled the bottom robot’s cord lengthwise and actually pulled the cord into its basket, where it sat running until I discovered it. I have also caught it heading directly toward the cord and intervened. My solution is usually to run them at different times. When the bottom robot finishes, I bring it near the edge and pull most of its excess cord out of the water before letting the surface robot continue. That works much better than repeatedly hauling my heavy bottom robot completely out of the pool. A handling issue Be mindful when handling the unit outside the water. While rinsing mine with a garden hose, I grabbed the upper edge of the body to tilt it and cut several fingers on an edge where the lid closes. The open lid also came down against my arm. There are protruding areas around the lid and basket assembly, so I now pay attention to where I place my hands when cleaning it. There is also a remote control for directing the robot or bringing it toward you. I haven’t needed it and haven’t even installed the battery. I can see in a larger pool where it would be handy but it goes back and forth and naturally comes my way and is easy to reach down and turn off the switch so I can empty the basket or turn it off while the Bottom Bot is at work. Bottom line This robot has changed when and how I clean my pool more than it has eliminated pool cleaning. It continually collects surface debris before much of it can become bottom debris, and the fine basket catches material that is difficult to collect manually. That is valuable to me. But it isn’t magic. Severe wind, heavy pine needles, large branches and debris gathered along the edges still require human intervention. Around here we now have three pool-cleaning robots: Bottom Bot: cleans the floor and walls. Top Bot: collects surface debris. Cindy Bot: cleans the edges, empties both bots, hoses everything out, untangles cords and supervises the entire operation. Unfortunately, Cindy Bot still has the biggest job. 😂🤖☕️

Works GREAT - was getting stuck on Polaris hose but i fixed that!
update- it's been nearly a year, I'm very happy with the robot. It's still performing great! I will check back / update in a week or so and most likely update this to a five star review from four stars, assuming that my adjustments to the Polaris hose have fixed the beta robot frequently getting stuck on the hose. (I’ve had it running seven days now). First off I was very surprised and happy with how well this unit cleans any debris from the surface of my pool, it actually cleans much better than I was doing myself going around with a net about once a day or every other day. A big part of that is because there is a very fine mesh in the basket of this beta, so it grabs much smaller items and, tiny little things that would pass through my net. And of course it does a better job cause it’s constantly running. I very much recommend getting the unit that allows you to plug it into the wall to charge occasionally, although I only have had to charge it once, and that’s when it first came in and I just did that as you’re always supposed to fully charge any lithium ion Battery/devices before first use. It has been a week now and the unit has constantly showed “good battery level” so the solar seems to be working great. (The only indication of battery level is the two blinking green lights on the front of the unit). I have cameras around my pool so it does look like the unit runs 24/7 , although I’m assuming at times it pauses/stops. I just haven’t happened to see that , as anytime I see it , It’s running. The only reason I’ve taken off one star is because the unit would very frequently get stuck on my Polaris hose to the point where you would have to dip down the hose or push the beta back for it to get unstuck, I even tried leaving it stuck for 12 to 24 hours and it would not get unstuck, however, I think I’ve now fixed that. The other reason for taking off a star, I’m assuming this unit has an accelerometer built into it, or even if it doesn’t - it really should have much better detection of getting stuck on something like the Polaris hose so that it would back out or never collide with it in the first place, however this is not the case as it will frequently get stuck on the hose. But the good news is, I was able to resolve this (at least as of the past three days), simply by moving around the floaters on the Polaris hose, in my case I was able to just slide them around so that as you can see in the photo, floaters are as close together as possible, right by the hose junctions which keeps a majority of the hose down below the water level, and the parts where the two floaters are very close together are high enough up that the beta now does not get stuck up on them . You can see in the photos I’ve attached to this review, these photos are after I’ve adjusted the hose floaters and in these photos, the betta absolutely would have gotten stuck on the hose before my hose adjustments, however, as you can see it is not getting stuck now. Also, this may be very important, I changed the timers around so that my Polaris vacuum / hose only runs at night assuming the betta might be sleeping at that point, I’ve also changed the Polaris/ hose to only run a few hours a day as there’s much less trash on the bottom anyway, as opposed to before I had it running about eight hours a day. If the Polaris is running during the day and the betta is also running at the same time, there’s a much higher chance the hose will ensnare the betta. However, I will update in a few days if this has not resolved the issue, and the betta is still constantly getting stuck, however, that does not seem to be the case. It seems like all is good now vacuum hose pool, vacuum hose weights that you can buy on Amazon, however, that does seem to be pretty useless, as they’re not heavy enough nor do they properly fit the hose but as you can see in my photo, I did stick four of the 8x weights wedged on the actual floaters - so they may be helping keep the hose below the water however, I’m more inclined to believe that *just* sliding the floaters closer together is all that is needed. It would be nice if there were a slightly more expensive beta version that allowed you to see how much battery charge is in the unit and possibly updated firmware as well as adjust the sensitivity or collision detection. (however that would have to be via an app most likely, and it would most likely have to be more expensive than the $350 I paid for my betta se). Bottom line, if my adjustments to the Polaris hose have stopped the beta from getting stuck on it then I’m super happy with this beta and will recommend it to others, however, if however, it should be noted that initially the unit would constantly get stuck on the hose as in every four hours or so. (Will update this review and my rating in the next week or so.) (Also it’s very cool / neat to see the little unit driving around the pool and getting close to the wall and then reversing and rotating ECT)

Worth it, buy it, love it.
It has been in the pool 99% of the time since we got it. The first day ran it for 9 hours! We have lots of trees around our pool and have had the fall leaves and now the spring pollen/brown little tail like worms, but not worms are falling constantly. Within the first 10 minutes it had most all of the debris out and we easily emptied the basket! Amazing! It is not a miracle worker, it does not get 100%, but it gets most of it. The remote control is awesome to get to the spots you want it to. It doesn't hug the sides or do corners well, but all you have to do is push the muck out from those spots. We have an inground pool approx 30,000 gallons. We have a 8ft x 8ft, 8 inch deep sun deck with 2 bubblers and a built in table with a built in bench around it and we have a grotto with a water fall across the front. It reaches all of those areas! It goes over right the bubblers on the sun deck. It does struggle witht he waterfall on the grotto. I think it thinks the water is a wall? It hesitates to go in and sometimes it will get in there and stay for a long time but it usually gets out fine. And if it does, so what, it has all the patience (unlike my husband!) and solar powered! Only rarely do we have to get the remote and move it out of the grotto. I can't recommend it enough. The solar powered is the way to go too. We've only had it a week so I hope it lasts a long time. It apprears to be durable. It's simple, straight forward, easy to use and not too heavy like some things. Dumping the basket is super easy! I can't wait until all this stuff falls off the trees and they are fully bloomed and we can watch it make our water sparkle like other said. It literally removes the haze and film off the water. It is a little expensive but it's worth it. What a reflief from dipping all that **** out 24/7! And did I mention the bugs?! Gone. Eats them up too! We named him Little Boy. We have a robot vacuum that we named Big Boy! I am not sure about charging speed since we only plug it in at night to be safe. The solar appears to be working fine and most likely doesn't even need charging. It's always the obvious little things like this that are brillant! I should have thought of it!

Battery good, collection bad
It’s been in the pool for over a week, runs day and night, can’t fault the battery, not yet anyway. The ability to collect leaves is lacking, they often get pushed to the side or bob along in front until the device changes direction. Sometimes when it reverses the leaves float right back out!! I want to love this and I think so far its ability to keep going without a need to plug in is fantastic. I think a lot of work is needed on the ability to catch leaves I’m 100% confident this could be improved.

Four important benefits/savings can be realized with the use of this product
This product is amazing. I had bought another robotic pool skimmer based on price and it was a joke. This one was recommended by an engineer friend and should have listened. This unit has never needed charging after the initial charge. It has been running on solar power ever since. Our pool is next to a forest and meadow and therefore have a heavy load off seed pods, pollen, insects etc get into our pool. We have noticed four large improvements - 1) no longer have to manually skim the pool before a swim 2) less frequent cleaning of the pool skimmer basket resulting in much better and more consistent flow of water to the pool 3) much less frequent use of our robotic pool vacuum as there is much less debris falling to the bottom of the pool 4) This last one was unexpected - savings in chemical cost - we do not have to intermittently shock the pool and are using much less chlorine pucks as we have significantly reduced the amount of debris/organics going into the pool and consuming these actives. I wish we knew about this robotic pool skimmer much earlier as it is saving us time and money.

Simply Brilliant !!!
First off I have to say I am not affiliated with Betta and that I paid for my device. I mention this because the Betta is brilliant, in fact it’s better than brilliant, it’s a total game changer. My pool used to have a ton of pollen, dead insects, algae and dust on the surface, this would collect in corners like a soup and line the walls. Enter the Betta! I love that there is no configuration; remove a couple of pieces of tape, slide the power switch on and put the device in the pool. My second home is in West Africa, which is virtually always sunny so I didn’t have to charge it. Straight away it’s collecting all tiny debris on the surface, this little guy works 24/7 cleaning, cleaning, cleaning. After a day I took it out to clean the ton of pollen and other stuff it had picked up. A week in and my pool has never been cleaner, not even when it was built. I also put the chlorine tablet in the basket which is a touch of genius. I used to spend a load of time skimming the pool with the net, problem is dust, sand and other small debris pass right through. Not so with the Betta, every tiny speck is gone, the water is now crystal clear. When I swim I look across the surface and see perfect glassy looking water and nothing else. The Betta never stops; when I’m at work it’s cleaning, when I’m asleep it’s cleaning, when I’m out having a pizza, it’s cleaning… you get the picture. The remote control is also a great touch. I have a hose at one corner of the pool so when it’s time to pull out the Betta and wash-out the basket a couple of presses on the remote sends it the right way. I had one concern; would the Betta get stuck on the pool entrance, which is a dead-end? I also have a couple of built-in tables in the water which could present a challenge. Not a bit of it, it can do a perfect 90 or 180 degree turn if it needs to, therefore it never gets stuck. After six weeks there were two consecutive cloudy days here, for the first time ever, at around midnight on the second day the Betta stopped. The next day the lights were flashing red, then green intermittently, I left it to its devices so it stopped again during the night, however after that it’s been running 24/7 once more. The maintenance of my 11x5 metre in ground pool has now been reduced to around 90 minutes each week. The Betta catches virtually everything, however a very small amount of dust and other particles inevitably get past it. I vacuum the bottom once a week as well as cleaning out the Betta every 3 days. So there I am thinking the Betta is perfect, when one of the lights stops working. Betta support is only available within the US and Canada so I won’t be able to get this repaired. It’s not often that something comes along to give one so much time back as well as making life better, however this is the case here, in fact I couldn’t think of any way to improve it. Five stars, five hundred stars if that were possible.
