Outstanding
I love Yamaha. This is my third Yamaha kit and it's outstanding. Sounds incredible. I bought the fusion setup with the 20" bass and 14" floor tom. It sounds incredible, tunes up easily, and holds its tune. I did change the heads, but probably didn't need to. Yamaha hardware is rock solid also and I love the Yess tom mounting system. I bought the chocolate brown finish and it's beautiful. It's not glossy, but I think it looks understated and classy. For me, Yamaha provides incredible value for the money. It costs just a little more than a top of the line Pearl set I bought over 40 years ago. I highly recommend this kit.

Beautiful Drums but Beware Wood Lamination Quality
I'm getting ready to retire and decided to pick up playing drums after many years of not having sticks in my hands. After reviewing every product line I could, I decide on this Yamaha set along with a matching snare, Yamaha's double-brace stands, and a set of mid-grade Zildjian cymbals. I ordered the set almost two months ago to beat expected tariffs but I was not able to set them up until I recently completed remodeling a music room for them The Yamaha Double-Braced hardware set is of excellent quality. It is stronger and more stable than I would have expected for the price. The drum set is beautifully crafted with comparably good hardware features. All was good until I unpacked and began setting up the bass drum, where I found a crack in the laminate that runs through from the inside, where the crack is the most severe to the outside, where it is not quite so obvious (see photos). My Amazon return window has closed through no fault of Amazon and, after reading the Yamaha "guarantee", it seemed that my only option would be to return the large bass drum to Yamaha for an evaluation. If you have worked with a large bass drum, you know that returning it would be a time-consuming and expensive process. A much more customer considerate option in such cases might have been for the company to secure adequate documentation and then pay for a local shop to make a professional repair. (Probably some filing, specialized epoxy, and specialized clamps, followed by matching touch-up paint.) I'm not a professional woodworker but I work with wood and the drum's laminations are very thin and brittle. I think the drum could crack in other places and this worries me. Lesson learned. Do not count on the practicality of a guarantee with a large product with no local service.

Disappointed with Damaged Drum and Poor Customer Service
I received my Yamaha drum set today, only to find a large scratch on the bass drum upon opening the box. Following Amazon’s guidance, I contacted Yamaha directly, but they were extremely rude and unhelpful, stating there’s nothing they can do and that I shouldn’t have purchased a drum set from Amazon. This is the fourth drum set I’ve bought, and I’ve never encountered such issues or been treated so poorly. I attempted to reach out to Amazon customer service but found the process confusing and difficult to navigate. I don’t want to return the entire set, but I do expect a resolution to this unacceptable situation. If someone from Amazon could assist me, it would be greatly appreciated.

This is The BEST Mid-Range Maple Kit I Have EVER Used - Serious Tone and Studio Quality
The Yamaha Tour Custom Maple Shell Pack is simply stellar. This isn't a beginner kit—this is a gigging musician's dream or a perfect upgrade for a serious player looking for professional tone and portability without the huge price tag of flagship drums. I purchased the Chocolate Satin finish, and the aesthetics alone are worth five stars. Tone & Build Quality (5/5): The all-maple shells deliver that rich, warm, and resonant tone that maple is famous for. They tune up easily and hold their tuning beautifully, even under heavy hitting. The sound projection is excellent, but the control is what impresses me most; they are punchy and articulate, perfect for jazz, rock, or studio work. The reverse-edge bearing on the toms provides a wider tuning window and a fatter sound that truly sings. Hardware & Finish (5/5): While this is a shell pack (no cymbals or heavy-duty stands included, as expected), the internal hardware is top-notch. The YESS mounting system on the toms is fantastic for shell isolation, and the quick-release lugs are a brilliant, time-saving feature. The Chocolate Satin finish is gorgeous—it looks sophisticated and highlights the maple grain perfectly. This kit is lightweight for the quality, making transport to and from gigs a breeze. Bottom Line: This Yamaha Tour Custom set is an exceptional value for a pure maple kit. If you already have your preferred cymbals and hardware, investing in these shells will drastically elevate your sound. They are robust, look amazing, and sound like a kit twice the price. This is a durable, professional instrument built for the road and the studio.

A joy to play
This is such a huge upgrade from my old ply Pearl Vision set. You can feel the quality difference in the hardware between the two. I was a small time punk before picking up this bad boy from guitar center, now I’m a beefy drum magician. These Tom’s surprisingly cut through guitars and bass during loud practice sessions. I added a kickport to my bass drum for a finishing touch to the already sexy sound. I’ve got the satin colored one, it’s absolutely beautiful. But beware! I had to swap out this set after finding that the bass drum was warped when trying to replace the head to my beloved Aquarian super kick II. Guitar Center gave me no trouble in the exchange process. Second set was perfect.

junk hardware
The shells are nice but the hardware is total junk. The bolts are casted so the tops are out of round with the rest of the bolt. I returned this kit. IMO the hardware won't last past 20 shows.

It is really one of the best despite what anyone else says
I have used Yamaha hardware and drums through extensive world touring in 350 shows a year over 30 plus years. My drums have been thrown in and out of vans, semi-rigs, cabs, airplanes and all manner of travel. It has been rained on, snowed on, wind blasted, and in a desert storm. I have never had any of my Yamaha drums or hardware break or fail to deliver. I absolutely recommend this product and I don't care what anyone else says. They obviously don't know what they are taking about or are just Yamaha haters. Yamaha makes iconic quality drums that can be seen and heard throughout the world and are used by famous and not so famous drummers. Go play some and let your ears do the thinking. Dont worry about the build because it is built to last. That I promise you!
