Pure Watercolour Painting: Classic Techniques for Creating Radiant Landscapes Paperback – October 10, 2017

Peter Cronin is hands down my favorite watercolor paint artist. This is a wonderful book - clearly written, concise, well detailed, with fine images of Peter Cronin paintings. The only watercolor book I want, and likely the only one other readers and watercolor painters, from beginners to advanced, probably need. Delightful!

Cronin is a true master of British Watercolor and he demonstrates it in this volume that in my opinion is indispensable for anyone interested in the extraordinary effects of the English watercolor and marine watercolor. Cronin is a great teacher and you can tell he enjoys teaching as much as his masterful artworks. This book is worth many times its price and you cannot go wrong learning with Peter Cronin, he is the real deal.

I loved this book. The techniques and materials were clearly explained for creating the exquisite atmospheric water colors for which the author is known. Well written with smatterings of personal anecdotes and humor.

As a beginner, I personally like watercolor books where I can paint "with" the author. In this book, the artist stresses the importance of sketching your subject, but the sketches shown are just way too light to be of any value to the reader.

Author breaks down the stages of watercolor paintings - plenty to choose from and try for yourself. Lovely resource. I especially liked the from photograph to sketch section then from sketch to painting. Valuable information for me personally as that is one of my goals to learn.
